Deserved a longer rope in Tests and didn't deserve to be dropped from the team after the NZ series where he had a score of 150+ He paid the price for Rohit and Kohli's non-performance. He should've played in England instead of Karun Nair. Hope he gets a longer run in Tests as he isn't really a natural T20 player. His nudges and soft touches paid off today but he lacks power and is more of a touch player.

Could not agree more. Perfectly said. He deserved a longer run in Tests. But he realized that the only way to get noticed was via the IPL path.

Our selectors start thinking about Test prospects after watching IPL

Ranji performances can go for a toss.

Just see SKY: he hadn't played FC matches for some 4 years till he realized he was going to be picked in Test team and hurriedly played one FC march in which he didn't even do well.

Sai Sudarsan is another one. FC average below 40. I mean literally you will find at least 50 batsmen currently playing domestic cricket who average over 40. How does a player who can't perform in domestics go on and perform everywhere including in home conditions?!!

He wasn't dropped due to performance. He did some off-field nonsense which ticked off whole bunch of people.

There was zero proof he did anything. He was just made a scapegoat because Gambhir didn't like him from day 1

Understandable. But they should've had a clear timeline on his punishment and brought him back after he had paid his dues.

None of us know exactly what he did so I guess length of timeout will depend on severity of act.

I suppose so. It comes down to whether one trusts the judgement of the current TM.
