Ishan has always been captain material from his Under 19 days he led Jharkhand really well and these 3 are better than Gill

We're gonna make the same mistake we made with pushing Kohli over Rohit in white-ball cricket. We went trophyless despite having the best bowling attack with Bumrah, peak Shami, Kuldeep, Pandya etc. Gill is the same. He isn't gonna win you anything.

In T20I Sanju is an option. But BCCI might shove GIlll against down our throat disturbing the entire batting line up.

Not Samson as his spot will come in under a lot of pressure. We have likes of Sooryavanshi, Jaiswal, Arya etc. waiting in the wings for the opening spot along with Abhishek. And Ishan is a wk option if Samson is ever out of form. If Samson is made the captain we'll go through the same challenge when we tried to force Gill into the T20 team. Iyer is still the best choice for the captain. PBKS' bowling has imploded due to Jansen no-show and backing Chahal along with likes of Bartlett. Plus their butter-finger fielding didn't help either with them dropping multiple catches every game. Iyer is still one of the best middle order batters at 4 and tactically pretty shrewd. Bumrah is a great choice for T20 captain and Iyer can be the vc with an understanding that Bumrah will take a break from meaningless bilaterals and play select few T20s. As a captain I don't want Bumrah to play every single match and needs to be protected for the next 3-4 years. velu 1

zen Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Apart from personal preferences, there is no real great captain at the moment, esp. in the days of TM. Everyone has his positives and negatives. Manucrick and tapandrun 2
zen Posted May 20 Posted May 20 T20s is about current form so ideally there should be no fixed captain. Select the squad first (based on form and conditions) and rotate the captaincy accordingly.
