G_B_ Posted May 15 Posted May 15 The biggest Question mark for me is that you have D stock parties saying that BJP needs to be stopped. They have 1 legislator, and even with Annamalai, probably anywhere between 5 to 8% of the vote where they are not in a position to guarantee any seat wins. Has been the case for the last two decades. BJP won a seat on its own in 1996 in the assembly. It's stuck on 1 with 4 seats being the best performance. So electorally it's not the case. BJP supporters need to accept TN voters will not vote BJP and it will take multiple election cycles for this to be potentially a reality. Does this sound like somebody who needs to be stopped? Even if you consider that BJP might have a proxy of puppet governments, how exactly will you stop that anyway? Vijay has given so many promises that he will have to rely on the CG for funding. 8g of gold per woman? If Petrol and diesel are brought under GST the BJP will effectively take control of the revenue-generating streams of TN (and other states)

Bjp can fudge around with these d stocks in a massive way and there is nothing they can do about it. I feel Shah will turn screw at right time. Has 5 years.

I think Annamalai explain the situation as well as any one could here. G_B_ 1

They work and work irrespective of whether people accept their ideology or if BJP lost the election. BJP has to give away this coalition politics in Tamilnadu and let people build the base. We have to believe that Tamil Nadu Voter will see the reality and all this crap of somehow people of certain states are intellectually better than its neighbour or rest of states will fade away.
G_B_ Posted May 18 Posted May 18 I think bjp first aim needs to be in a position to extract lok sabha seats from tn kerala and punjab on their own. Ap with tdp they can win upto 5. In total there are around 75 seats in these three states of which bjp has 1. I dont think bjp can win the state in either lok sabha or assembly across multiple cycles. But ap+ punjab+ tn + kerala should be 15 lok sabha seats in the next few lok sabha cycles. So if annamalai puts together an alliance that wins a few ls seats it will go a massive way to structurally ensuring the party remains the slp in lok sabha. Hard work as the vijay alliance with cong will sweep. But annamalai can focus on 4 to 5 seats.
coffee_rules Posted June 3 Author Posted June 3 Annamalai should have waited at least at the end of the honeymoon period of TVK for a year to start this new outfit. But he’s from Tamil Nadu and wants drama in politics. It could be a BJP Plan B if he succeeds, they will align with his new party later. https://www.deccanherald.com/india/tamil-nadu/why-did-annamalai-quit-bjp-4025175
IndianRenegade Posted June 5 Posted June 5 (edited) Bjps best chance was 2024 in TN, after that loss, Vijay’s win has made BJPs position untenable in TN. I don’t know if there is space for a nationalistic party, maybe if AIADMk merges into that party, even that is a long shot. Annamali was great talent wasted in TN’s political landscape. G_B_ Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Its a good move. I think annamalai will start a movement first. His suppoters will contest as independents in the local polls coming up. Vijay did this. His supporters clubs started testing waters and contesting as independents. Target will be hindu leaning + obc voters. He will sit out lok sabha and not get in bjp way as lok sabha is about his mentor Modi. It will mostly be bjp + admk + pmk vs dmk + vs vijay + cong. Bjp power brokers in local unit will try to get dmk + admk + pmk + bjp. But no matter what they do bjp will end up with 0. Piyush Gopal will precide over this debacle. Post lok sabha he will launch his party and heavily draw from bjp and other parties. Real question is can he get more than 10% of the vote. Can the bjp get a reliable local partner. ravishingravi 1
