Your statman says that in first class cricket Sushant averages 37 and Brar 27, doesn’t support your argument. Also, am not against Sushant, I like him and hope he gets his chance too. Talking about VH stats. One dayers. We are ignoring biased selections because they have picked a guy we have hyped. I don't expect Tyagi to be backed by this group as well unless he plays for GT.

Biased selection can impact other genuine quicks as well.
Ultimate_Game Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Disappointing. Aquib Nabi after averaging 13 last Ranji season and 12 this season helping his team win Ranji trophy is not selected yet Prasidh and Gunoor Brar (especially Prasidh) are Aquib Nabi is getting the Sarfaraz Khan treatment where Sarfaraz averaged around 100 across 3 Ranji seasons and still couldn't get in while likes of SKY and Patidar were able to get in. If selectors start ignoring domestic and Ranji trophy performances, how do they expect players to take domestic cricket seriously? And Sundar in ODIs is like Jadeja being played in ODIs instead of Axar Patel The difference being that Sundar is a much worse fielder and a worse bowler and almost a similar batter to Jadeja. They could've gone with Riyan Parag and also given someone like Sooryavanshi a chance at the top along with Sai but absolutely no vision. The only decent selections are Ishan, Prince and to an extent Gurnoor.
tapandrun Posted May 22 Posted May 22 (edited) Gurnoor is a good pick, good domestic and A tours performances. Nabi he is 29-30 yo bowls sub 130 kmph, at-best he can be stop gap , but its time to build a new bowling core be it fast bowling or spin. Nabi has all the experience if he is needed in Nz/Sa conditions then he should be able to plug right in to the combination, there is no need to try him. This is what seasoned domestic performers there for, they are good then plug them into the side when there is a need to do so, else develop newer players. Selecting a seasoned domestic performer and benching them does no good to the team/ player thats what they did with Unadkat. His List A SR is 85.That is putrid SR.So he is not part of the odi team and should not be for next world cup in 2027. I rather have Vaibhav as third opener than Jaiswal. Edited May 23 by putrevus

Yes ,v.odd with Jaiswal he has 150+sr int20s and 65+ in tests but he does not play with with high sr in fifty overs

Yes ,v.odd with Jaiswal he has 150+sr int20s and 65+ in tests but he does not play with with high sr in fifty overs Jaiswal has only done minnow bashing mostly in T20s, Asian games vs Nepal or Zimbabwe and some inns here and there vs SL. T20 is his weakest format like Gill. That being said I'd still back Jaiswal to open in ODIs.. he is being sidelined just to protect washed up unfit Rohit. These seniors won't let Gill do his thing as well in shaping the side. ODI side will suffer coz of this. Edited May 23 by Lone Wolf tapandrun and express bowling 2
Sandz Posted May 23 Posted May 23 (edited) Btw there’s no such thing as a sensible selection when it comes to the BCCI, you’ll be waiting forever if that’s the expectation lol. It’s good to see they’re at least looking at younger fast bowlers, but even Brar is 25, Kartik is about the same age and still not in contention. The last time they actually backed a genuinely young quick was Ishant Sharma! Edited May 23 by Sandz tapandrun 1

I think it's simpler than that - selectors are picking on potential and flashes of excellence that he has displayed here and there. They keep thinking (erroneously, imo) that he can put it together consistently at some point.
