Good news - No Jadeja , Gurnoor included

Bad news - Sundar in ODI squad , not a single friggin batting allrounder to bat at #6,  Jadeja will miss all these matches and be directly picked for South Africa '27

Hope Afghans expose India.

Axar will be back for sure. Though Parag and Dube should play ODIs too

Most supsicious selection is Gurnoor Brar. Couldn't find a spot in playing XI of GT. But found his way into both Test and ODI squad

Was superb against Australia A and good domestic numbers.

Selected on merit.

GT is blessed with too many options otherwise he would be in starting XI of most other teams

Gambhir and Agarkar: play Ranji trophy cricket!

Also Gambhir and Agarkar: *ignore Nabi and Sarfaraz who have done great in Ranji cricket*

Posted (edited)

As expected 2 rs sports journalist want 40 year old Shami and Boobie to be selected again...

Avg 75IQ demographic dividend strikes..

On Nabi Agarkar gave a solid reason that his kinda bowling is unsuitable for surfaces India plays on..  they may give him a chance in NZ or some shadow A tour before it.

You got to be joking !

IPL is T20 format.

Gurnoor has been a regular in India A red ball and done well. And he has done ok in VHT.

If there was one pacer I would choose for Afghanistan test, it would be Gurnoor. [ No point in playing Bumrah and Siraj ].

His selection for the ODI squad is because WC 27 is in SA and they are looking for tall, quick pacers.

How is Nabi not in the Test squad. He definitely moves the ball both ways.

What is suspicious about this? Was picked because he performed well for the 'A' and has the attributes for an international bowler.

Nabi type of bowler may work only in first innings in England, NZ, SA. [ These days conditions usually flatten out in these countries in the 2nd innings ]

Not an all condition pacer.

Never have I seen a medium height 120 k to 135 k pacer have a successful career in tests  except Philander who averaged 38 in tests in Asia.

But it makes domestic irrelevant. Landing the ball on the spot is also an art. SHould have tried him before discarding him. Afghanistan is the best team to try against.

We should be very very careful about ranji stats . Except  6-7 teams all other teams are trash.

Only performance against the those good teams counts .

Despite seeing so many medium height medium pace top Ranji performers fall flat in tests and ODIs in the last 40 years ( except in England in the 1980s ), don't know why so many people want such pacers in tests in Asia or Australia.
