Padikkal absolutely bottled against SA A . Averaging 10 runs in 4 innings against SA A. He is with our test squad. There are many guys who get sidelined. Ruturaj was the highest run getter SA A tour to India. He also played very well in first class this season on tough wickets saving his side. He gets sidelined because of IPL. Kotian got 8 wickets in 1 test at an average of 13.72. Manav averaged 37 in the same series picking 3 wickets. Why wasn't Kamboj played? Kamboj averaged 19 in the series against SA A where Gurnoor averaged 25. In 2024/25 series India A tour to Australia A , Mukesh kumar was the best bowler from both sides. 2 matchs 11 wickets averaging 16.18. Many bowler, batsmen have done well in A tours never got a chance. Let us not invent reasons for hsi selection as we already have why he got picked. Let us hope he does well. If wer going to ignore medium height 130k bowlers we should be ignoring Akash deep as well who won us the test. These kidn of arbirtrary rules will make us miss actually good bowlers. Everyone needs to go through some level before discarding. Atleast A tour chance. Nehra played a big role in his push. Why dind't he give him chance already in the IPL if he is that good. Why did that left arm seame Arshad r play ahead of him? After all GT is preparing green wickets that suit their fast bowlers. Bro...Akashdeep isn't a 130k trundler. He was bowling those pace in Australia when he recovered from Dengue and got the pasting of his life....but in England he was again bowling quick...I think he delivered majority of deliveries in 137-141 range with quickest around 144. In Australia he never touched 140, quickest was 138, mostly in 130-135 range. express bowling 1

He is skiddy quick and if he can attack the stumps at skiddy 150 k with reverse swing, he will be unplayable. Needs guidance in this direction. Ashok needs one more domestic season atleast. He debuted this season only for all 3 formats, his rise has been quick. But one more season will stamp his authority as then he'll be in selectors radar. Gurnoor is already getting questioned on SM for his inclusion over Aaqib, mostly for nonsensical reasons. It's enough to damage the morale of a young fast bowler, even Harshit faced so much trolling and was called as GG's pet and what not. I know its heartbreaking for Aaqib, but his pace is pretty limited and that doesn't work in internationals. He is also close to 30 so isn't going to be any younger. express bowling 1

Higher release point won't automatically make him Marco Jansen, Obrien though. Marco can actually move the ball bothways in the air and off the pitch. He had other attributes. GT is preparing green pitches. WHy is he not playing?

daryl1985 Posted May 20 Posted May 20 As someone who does not watch domestic cricket, feels bad that Auquib is not getting a chance but majority feel he would not succeed at international level.

In Unofficial Tests Vs Australia A a few months back, Gurnoor had picked 8 wickets from 2 matches ( just 3 innings ) and averaged 25.5. He was the highest wicket taker for the series among both teams along with Suthar. ( another bowler whose selection is being questioned ). Don't understand how Gurnoor's selection is being questioned in tests. I can understand if one questions Gurnoor's ODI selection. I myself would have preferred Ashok Sharma who may not have played for India A yet but is a 150 k pacer with great wicket taking ability in List A. @Mosher, @Suhaan, @singhvivek141, @Lone Wolf, @tapandrun, @Sandz, @MK55, @rollingstoned, @Need4Speed @Vk1 , @speedster@vishalvirsingh, @govinda, @bouncers Nothing wrong with Gurnoor's selection. He has unique skill-set and ability which makes him leap-frog others. He is ~6.6 tall pace bowler who can bowl 135+ kmph. If some1 is bringing a unique skill-set and point of diff. then that player can leap-frog others -- Right now Ind does not have Pacers-- Only bhumrah and Siraj are there have to add at least 3-4 more pacers. The fast bowling resources are at such levels that if selectors are asked to pick the odi wc side today they can not even have 3-4 pacer in the side, after siraj and bhumrah there will be inexp. bowlers. The stocks are so low that ppl are suggesting shami and bhuvi. Ind does not have many pacers, wrist-spinner, fast bowling allrounders so if there is someone then they need to be tried and should leap-frog others there should be no issue about it, if they perform good and if not ask them to improve on the identified areas and go back to domestic again As for Ashok he should be in Ind plans for odi-wc Edited May 20 by tapandrun express bowling 1

He may have some utility on a damp Wellington surface for us but that's about it. Aquib has taken almost 100 wickets in last 2 seasons. He has not always bowled in damp conditions and has bowled in every conditions to take all this wickets. Aquib would have been supporting bowler to Prasidh,Siraj and would have lost his place to Reddy as he is allrounders. A season highest wicket taker deserved to be in the squad for a one off test series against Afghanistan. We have seen this happening with regards to Sarfaraz. Some players are just selected to block some one place.

He has this intimidation factor unlike most other bowlers. He can really hurt you as we saw him against RCB. If Kartik Tyagi had played for GT he would have been part of the ODI squad. tweaker 1

Yes he has unique skill-et -->145 kmph bowlers have to be in the plans of the intnl side be it Tyagi, Ashok, Mayank, Umran. If they are not ready for test cricket then work on their strength and conditioning and get them ready , if not 3 formats but try for 2 formats.

Those A match numbers are not like outstanding .. Both teams made 500 plus runs in one of the test. Can't see any vides of him. Most vides of him are him bowling to some local tailender looking batsman picking their wickets. Any vides of him bowling to some good batsmen? We have seen kUldeep sen, Umran bunch of other pacers.

Shreyas iyer was doing well when they did not pick him for T20 world cup.But out of the blue GIll was picked and given vice captaincy in T20 team.
putrevus Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Team like Afghanistan was perfect team for guy like Tyagi to play odis. There was no need for Kohli and Rohit to play in odis.Does it matter if they score three hundreds or three zeros.

Kotian picked 8 wickets in the SA A test. Why was he omitted? It is not like he ran through a team. Mukesh did better in Australia A tour than this. Took 6 for 46 . Not that i like him. These stats have to be viewed with context. You have to play Irani Trophy and do well there. Ansul kamboj did better than Brar in the IRani trophy final. tweaker 1
