Even now most of the Indian fans think Kohli and Rohit are key to WC 2027 You gotta remember that ICF is an outlier and you get hardcore cricket fans who have understanding of the game. They are .001% of the cricket fan base but most of the casual cricket fans go with what's shown on TV. And even here we have Kohli bhakats who think Kohli's the reason India performed and it was the bowlers who let India and Kohli down instead of the other way round.

BCCI is doing exactly the same. Despite our youngsters proving themselves to be world's bestby first beating Aus in Aus in BGT 2020-21 and then winning the recent WT20 easily, they're going back to the oldies. The same core failed to win the last 3 WCs when they were at their peak and they're expecting them to win it when they're closer to 40 and semi-retired! And it's not as if we don't have options. We'll be leaving likes of Sooryavanshi, Ishan, Jaiswal Sai either on the bench or out of the squad. I would argue that these would be way better than our top 3 (Rohit, Gill, Kohli) + KL.
