Adamant Posted June 14 Posted June 14 On topic. Rohit needs to go, we should have a left handed batsman in top 3 and considering a talent like Jaiswal is ready there is no space for a 41 year old Rohit. Kohli should still be there based on current form but lets say if he fails in upcoming Odi series against top teams then selectors should let him go. I am quite sure that he will still do well in Odis because unlike Rohit he also looked in top form in IPL and striked at 165 ( more than Gill and Sai). Now coming to the main topic, Hardik Pandya is treated like a superstar here, if you don’t look at his performance in CWC and CT you would feel he is at the same level as Klusener in the way that he is celebrated on this forum. This is probably going to be his last Odi Wc considering his poor injury prone body. Its high time that he finally performs at the level of Stokes, Yuvi, Klusener, Kapil. If he fails to make an impact yet again then he should not even be in the team after the WC.
express bowling Posted June 14 Posted June 14 (edited) 1. Replace Rohit with Jaiswal or Sooryavsnshi. 2. Need a big hitter batting all-rounder at 7. Edited June 14 by express bowling Ultimate_Game, Sgattick10 and tapandrun 3
crictime Posted June 14 Posted June 14 We have been winning ICC trophies in white ball cricket for fun in last two years. I won't out it past this team to win ODI WC as well. In the last edition, the tema won all matches but the finals against Australia who are one of the best opponents in the finals. express bowling 1
rollingstoned Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Old batsmen in bouncy and fast conditions is a recipe for disaster generally, they will do well not to get injured. I know nowadays pitches are more or less the same eveywhere esp in ICC events but still. express bowling and tapandrun 2
Gollum Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Monkey is also off the back with these 3 ICC trophies. We entered 2019 and 23 WCs with a lot of mental baggage.

As if the batting "star" you're referring to has won us countless matches Ashwin was responsible for more than decade of dominance at home and covering the so called batting star @sses. The away series wins were due to our pace bowlers, Pant and Pujara backed by our lower order and youngsters mostly.

The WC was won by our pacers and bowlers mostly. They were the ones who pulled the WT20 out of fire defending a total like 119 and defending 30 off 30 with 6 wkts remaining. The kids OTOH decimated the opponents and scored 250+ in SF and Finals which the "stars" couldn't even dream about. Oh by the way the so called stars needed more than a decade of failure before bowlers carried them on their back but the kids got one chance and showed the mistake our selectors did by not bringing them in earlier. Last CT semis Motm Kohli Finals motm Rohit Last WC semis highest scorer Kohli finals highest scorer Kohli Please stop with this BS. Explain what Pandya has done in World cup and Champions trophy? I challenge you to list down his achievements in Odi trophies. Highest score doesn't mean jack-shyte. As an example the highest score of the last WT20 is Shahibzada Farhan and we all know where he stands against the likes of Samson, Dube Ishan etc. in terms of performance. Scoring in group stages and then going missing in the biggest match is a specialty our stars have mastered. If this was propaganda then we would've surely won at least 1 ODI WC out of the last 3 chances and maybe a WTC as well but as usual it was likes of Head, Smith, Warner which played the match-defining innings while our stars flattered to deceive as usual. Rahul, Prasidh, Sundar should have been rested for this series. They have been part of every series and just have played IPL. Yup. Play Prince, Mohsin, Sakib or any other pacer in place of Prasidh. Rest Rahul, play Ishan in his place and bring in Sai instead of Kohli, and a more explosive all-rounder in place of Sundar. But nope, it's more of the same. This team is built to win bilaterals and group matches.

This is the worst phase for bowlers. INdia still managed to produce results no par with pre-2-ball era . This magic won't be available in 2027 world cup. We are going to get thrashed big time. @Adamant, this is what our bowlers did over the last 3 WCs. And got no support from our so called batting stars. Couldn't win even one cup while Aussies despite being 3rd on that list won 2 of the last 3 thanks to their batting stars like Head, Smith showing up at the crunch. express bowling 1
deepdynamo Posted June 15 Posted June 15 We can't make the same mistake like in 2015, 2019 and 2023. Don't go with top heavy approach or just 5 batsman approach in ODI - Reciepe for disaster. 2015- Jadeja was No.6 and Ashwin was No.7. 2019- Dhawan, Rohit, Kohli & then bust!!!! 2023- Batting stopped at 5 We must have a powerful top 6 batting ( excluding Pandya) with atleast 2 or 3 left hander. Consider this top 7, this can win the world cup for us. Even if we play our 4 best bowlers who are complete dud in batting , even then its ok. Jaiswal Gill Kohli Kishan Iyer Rahul Pandya Backups can be players like Sai, Samson and Tilak. Ultimate_Game 1

We've regressed a lot since 2023. Rohit of 2023 was a beast compared to Rohit of now. In 2023 we also had a peak Shami and we've nobody like that anymore. Plus we were playing at home while the next ODI WC is in SA. Instead of improving, we've regressed and will be playing away.
Lone Wolf Posted June 15 Posted June 15 A SENA event Always tests Subcontinent sides... It will be totally different exposure from last 2-3 ICC events which were happening in India/UAE/ or heck even WI. India can still make a run for it but we will have to see how this side takes it shape closer to the event. We are definitely far from Ready now. Gollum 1

India was the best team until kock outs in 2019, second best in 2015. We have been the biggest tournament team since that awful 2007 exit. Reached 2013/2017/2025 CT final won twice. 2015 semi , 2019 semi, 2023 final. So it doesn't matter where we play.

Lol, this is what happens when you lack analytical abilities and ride your luck on others. India also has the highest batting average in world cup in the same time frame.

Abey, I have given you instances of him performing in knockouts, what do you have? Are you thick? We won CT due to them, we won wt20 because of them performing in semis and finals. In WC 23, Rohit and Kohli were easily our best batsman, the fact you still have a problem with them shows that you are a biased hater. What about Iyer failing like a dog in final? Anyone who thinks we lost 23 WC due to Rohit and Kohli is a disgraceful cricket fan who knows nothing but hatred. The guy hot a MOTT award and here you are blaming him for Indias loss . Just look at the audacity.

The team had some holes and they got exposed. We had no depth down the order, the likes of Sky had no business being in the team and KL Rahul folded under pressure. Also we had batting only till number 6 , Jadeja is hardly someone you can rely on in Odis. The team structure was flawed. JaFanatic and Sgattick10 2
