I tend to be very sensitive to concept of "innocent until proven guilty." I feel that it is the very basis of civil society, because without it, anyone in power could accuse anyone of anything and have them arrested, or public could use vigilante justice based on social media accusations which may actually be false. Let it all play out in court. 

 

As for the boyfriend being the one to commit the actual murder, it wouldn't surprise me if, in court, this woman throws him under the bus (not literally, although she has probably contemplated that also :-( ....) 

 

Innocent until proven guilty works in a society which has matured educated and civilized citizens. It works if the judiciary is not corrupt for regular common citizens. But in most countries, especially india, judiciary is not very reliable. Highly corrupt and practically inhuman towards low income and illiterate citizens.

 

Manu Sharma killed Jessica Lal point blank in front of at least 20 people in a bar. He got convicted and was sentenced for life. After 15 years, he got out on good behave and judicial lenience. He now owns a popular  SMW brand Indri.  Folks, here please don’t drink.  Indri for that very reason.,There are many such rich people they get away with horrible crimes because the judiciary is highly corrupt in India.
 

There are rape convicts of minors, who get acquitted on some minor technicality like the one below

There was an encounter case in Hyderabad, where four convicts had raped and killed Doctor. All four were killed by the police, and the people people totally supported this action. They were caught on CCTV footage as well, so it was a case of going to court and convicting them.


 

There are 17 year-old drunken drivers who killed people on the road and the judge tells him to write an essay as a punishment. Indian  judiciary is a joke in general. That is why most of the high profile cases is settled in TV debates on emotions only.

Pertinent question is who is the first one to make a movie about this story? Perfect for a Sriram tRaghavan, or Anurag Kashyap. RGV would have probably made a better movie 25 years ago now he’s a waste body. Malayalam or Tamil director would probably make a more realistic chilling movie about this better than anybody in Bollywood.
