Venky came because phil salt got injured and bethell failed, not because padikkal was ineffective.

Bumrah had played 25 to 28 FC matches before test debut. Averaged around 25.5.

 

His longer format pace, bounce and skills are not really that dependant on the IPL.

Overall impression probably based largely on highlights.

 

It's true that I observe quick bowlers much more [ almost always multiple full spells in FC or List A or preferably both ]  than I do for batsmen.

Haven’t seen him yet: also I don’t remember him in IPL, means probably a fair/aura less batsman, so already starting on a negative foot but will check out and give my eye test :)

We need some aura-less test bats with good technique and temperament. Dravid / Pujara / Vihari type.
