He had a couple of decent games and RCB had to bring in Venky Iyer coz Padikkal wasn't able to make much of an impact. Patidar, Krunal and Tim David were the difference makers along with Venky when he was brought in. Venky came because phil salt got injured and bethell failed, not because padikkal was ineffective. tapandrun 1

Bumrah had played 25 to 28 FC matches before test debut. Averaged around 25.5. His longer format pace, bounce and skills are not really that dependant on the IPL. tapandrun and BacktoCricaddict 2

It's true that I observe quick bowlers much more [ almost always multiple full spells in FC or List A or preferably both ] than I do for batsmen.

He is probably just as deserving - if not more - than Padikkal or Gaikwad for a M.O slot in the India-A team. He has championship pedigree, 60 avg, 60+ SR. He is 26 now, and his window will probably close soon. Why is he being sidelined? Eyetest @maniac? Haven’t seen him yet: also I don’t remember him in IPL, means probably a fair/aura less batsman, so already starting on a negative foot but will check out and give my eye test :)
