cricspirit Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Too bad for Sanju. Tilak will have to go at some point if the continues like this. Rinku is a better utility than Tilak in lower middle order. I would play Rinku ahead of Tilak. Thats just me. Very happy that Mayank and Ashok are in. Not sure why Harahit was dropped. Prasidh I dont think belongs to T20I. We can keep Siraj and Prasidh for Tests. This assures Sooryavanshi plays all games. Sanju got to play down the order now that the kid is here. Lord 1

He will be rotated. Seems BCCI has accepted that Bumrah can't be dragged everywhere and they need new legs to support him. Prasidh and Siraj too are in their 30s. Mayank, Ashok, Harshit are under 25, Gurnoor is 26...they havr time in their hands to take us for next 8-10 years. cricspirit, express bowling, Manucrick and 1 other 4

Rinku is more limited than Verma, he is not a finisher. He does not have pwer game, think he has replaced Sundar in t20i. Edited July 6 by tapandrun

Rinku does not try to stat-pad. More naturally aggressive batter. Can hit 3 sixes in last over. Tilak may be but unlikely. Rinku has got way less proper opportunities than Tilak. Tilak has batted 3 to 5. Rinku mostly 5-7 . Has faced less than 10 balls per match while Tilak has faced 20 balls per match. So Tilak has had better opportunity to make impact. Tilak is a good fielder but Rinku is better. Both can bowl a few and are somewhat similar. Finally we have lot of choices for Top 4, and after that Tilak has a less impact. I am not saying that Rinku must play, but if I have to pick one to bat 5 or lower then I choose Rinku over Tilak. Sgattick10, BacktoCricaddict and Manucrick 3

Its just now that verma's limitations are exposed ppl are hyping rinku. Rinku is similar to he too can not take down spinners. He also gets stuck. rinku does not even have the power game of verma. At least verma can hit 6s from the crease and is able to score freely when wkts are in hand. rinku lacks the power game , he is not successful vs. spin because he can not hit 4/6 from the crease, to hit pacers for 6s he needs to create momentum as well. both are limited and rinku is not upgrade on verma, its just replacing verma with another version of verma. Just look at rinku's t20i year on yr sr it has dropped every year because ppl have figured his game Even in Ipl his sr drops below 140 out side home ground because edens is smaller ground with v.fast out-field. 6s goes from 1 per 11 balls to 19 balls. Please suggest No.6/7 options. Players who can bowl a bit and field well. Have the power game you want and clear big grounds. Also not KL type mentally. Because in theory, KL can bat anywhere, can hit around the wicket, be explosive when in mood etc.... but will not do anything under pressure. Definitely if we get better options, Rinku goes out and so does Tilak. Lord 1

There should not be the case either they play and play at certain slot only else its hard to keep in 15. If Arya can play in mo or lower mo, may be vaibhav too and urvil can open he can also score quickly. These are few tall batter with good bat speed and ability to hit big shots. you have to develop players, can not just recycling same players who have similar limitations and are similar players. If player1 does not do well then player sitting outside automatically does not become superior Player Primary Comfort Slot Target Alternate Slot Technical Gap to Bridge Squad Value Proposition Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Opener (LHB) Middle Order (No. 4/5) Playing extreme spin from ball one without resetting. Left-handed muscle to break spin matchups in the middle overs. Priyansh Arya Opener LHB) Middle / Lower-Middle (No. 5/6) Manipulating fields; turning good balls into ones and twos. Elite baseline strike-rate (191+ in IPL) injected into the death overs. Urvil Patel Opener / No. 3 (RHB) Lower-Middle / Finisher (No. 6/7) Off-side access; handling high-pace hard lengths. Wicketkeeper-batter hybrid with record-shattering ball-striking. Suryansh Shedge Middle Order (RHB) Floater / Finisher (No. 6/7) Handling defensive wide-line bowling outside off. bowling-option utility (Medium-pace/Off-spin cushion). Edited July 7 by tapandrun

Bro..asking an opener to bat at no 5/6/7 isnt the right strategy. Likes of Priyansh dont move much and rely on batswing to generate power...this becomes an issue in death when the bowlers will bowl defensive lengths away from the arc of the batters. Abhishek failed in MO for the same reason even though he generates a lot of momentum by moving on the crease. We only have Shivam Dube right now with brute power...Shashank, Samad & Ashutosh are there at IPL level. Then a tier below we have likes of Rinku or Ramandeep who can play the similarish role. Rinku moves in the crease and has fast hands to generate momentum like Suresh Raina. tapandrun 1

Rinku moves in the crease and has fast hands to generate momentum like Suresh Raina. yes traditionally openers can not play in lower mo because (rightly mentioned) they lack power game to hit the ball down the ground, playing as finisher req. brute force as there is a need to hit older ball + need to hit yorker length balls too. Thats the reason dint mention abhishek or gill or jaiswal, mentioned batter with power game and fast bat speeds and who are hitting big boundaries. Rinku/Raman will not work at intnl level specially vs top sides. Urvil/arya/Vibhav/segde are all tall and have good power game all hit big boundaries. The issue is Ind players do not play other leagues so they do nt get to test themselves at various slots and they become 1 slot specialists. Owens is opener but in league he plays down the order, in no time Cooper has played all the slots. in t20s need to try diff. options. There are loads of openers avialable but no mo or lower mo can try few and see what they can offer. Apart from arya rest 3 are multi-skilled. Raina was tall compared to rinku , plus raina had better game vs spin. But raina was never a top t20i player vs top sides. Not ipl but t20is. Rinku does now use crease but he charges down the pitch because he can not hit 6s from crease
