Those who dont learn from history, repeat it Yes, which is why no point in keeping fixed captains. Most teams have multiple candidates who can lead. If MI had used rotation based captaincy, it had Rohit, SKY, Bumrah, etc. too who would have captained in a few games. It also guards against captains developing egos. New guy 1

It didnt make sense for him to come to an established team from outside and be made captain over the likes of bumrah, rohit and sky When sachin recommended Dhonis name for captain in 2007, he and other seniors were very sure they needed to step aside and it should be a young team he leads without any baggage An outsider captain never works in an already established team putrevus 1

Sachin and other seniors were wise enough to let MS lead, that was not the case with stars like Rohit who ran campaigns against Hardik. This team is fairly young team which Iyer is leading. There are no superstars with Hardik and Bumrah missing
sarcastic Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 (edited) @Lord A small correction here regarding the claim that "Sachin and other seniors were wise enough to let MS lead, unlike Rohit, who ran campaigns against Hardik." If we're talking about MS Dhoni leading a team full of seniors, we're essentially talking about the Test team. It's also worth remembering that Dhoni was already an established member of the Indian team and was promoted from within. He wasn't brought in from outside and immediately made captain. Looking at the senior players at the time: Sachin Tendulkar – He was offered the Test captaincy again in 2007 but declined it for his own reasons. Rahul Dravid – He had already resigned as captain before the role passed on. Sourav Ganguly – He was nearing the end of his career and was no longer in the BCCI's strongest favor. Anil Kumble – He actually became captain before Dhoni and resigned after the Australia series, following which Dhoni became the full-time Test captain. VVS Laxman -- BCCI never considered him a captaincy material. So yes, it's fair to say that seniors like Sachin and Dravid supported Dhoni and helped create an environment where he could lead successfully. But it's not accurate to suggest that the captaincy was suddenly taken away from established stars and handed to Dhoni against their wishes. The transition happened through a series of resignations, refusals, and natural succession. Even after Dhoni became captain, these seniors remained the most respected figures in the dressing room, and Dhoni himself consistently acknowledged their stature. The Hardik Pandya–Rohit Sharma situation at Mumbai Indians was quite different. The captaincy change appeared abrupt, and many fans felt the transition was not handled as smoothly. It also didn't create the same public perception of continuity and mutual respect that existed during Dhoni's rise to the Indian captaincy. Sachin and Dravid were OK with playing with MSD as captain (since they tacitly approved it) but Rohit was not OK with playing under Hardik (he was forced to) and I can definitely understand why. Owners are more brutal than selectors. You still expect a senior player to support the incoming captain putting his ego aside. P.S. You were very sarcastic with that title

If sachin and others felt dhoni was unfairly brought from outside same thing would happen There is no way iyer deserves place in this team and no way ishan, samson etc think he deserves to be captain over them. And all of them know their place is numbered and thats exactly what happened to samson In the other thread you spoke about lack of skills but not even bradman can perform under suc insecurity. Its not a lack of skill
Tillu Posted July 10 Posted July 10 It would have instilled some confidence in our team had we won the match where Bishnoi bowled those no balls.
Chaos Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Its still “loading”… at this rate he will blow up from inside from all the built up.
