Pietersen to get $1.3 million base price in IPL - report Cricinfo staff January 29, 2009

Kevin Pietersen could become the IPL's highest-paid cricketer when he goes on sale at the auction on February 6 with a base price of $1.3 million, according to a newspaper report. Chennai Super Kings' Mahendra Singh Dhoni is currently the league's most expensive player: he was bought for $1.5 million after having a base price of $400,000. Daily Telegraph reported that, apart from Pietersen, Andrew Flintoff has been valued at $900,000, while the base price for other England players, though it is yet to be decided, is unlikely to be higher than $250,000. England's centrally-contracted players will be available for only 21 days of the 2009 IPL season and will be paid on a pro-rata basis. Dominic Cork, Sajid Mahmood, Ed Joyce, Darren Gough, Rob Key and James Foster were some of the other players who were added to the auction list sent to the franchise owners, the report said. Related reports claimed that Michael Clarke, the Australia vice-captain, will be listed for the auction at a base price of $ 1 million. However, the Australian newspaper reported that Clarke was yet to decide on his participation in the IPL. Senior IPL officials, however, refused to confirm the figures that have been reported and said that the final list of players, including their base prices, was still being finalised. "It would be premature to talk figures now as we are still in the final stages of negotiations with various players," an IPL official told Cricinfo. The official said that a clear picture would emerge in a day or two. The IPL has fixed $2 million as the maximum amount a franchise can spend at the auction.
Isn't Pietersen over priced since he will be available at the most for three weeks only ??

Nayar to rake in $100,000 Cricinfo staff January 28, 2009

Abhishek Nayar, the Mumbai allrounder, has been rewarded for his domestic performances with an upgrade of his IPL contract with the Mumbai Indians. Nayar, who received approximately US$40,000 last season, will now get $100,000. In the four Ranji matches he played this season, Nayar scored 233 runs at 58.25, including 99 in the Ranji Trophy final. "He [Nayar] has earned the benefit for performing during the IPL last season" Wasim Jaffer, the Mumbai captain, said. Contracts have also been upgraded for Dhawal Kulkarni, Yogesh Takawale and Rohan Raje, who also received $40,000 for 2008. Kulkarni, who was Mumbai's leading wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy with 42 at an average of 19.35, will get $70,000 and Takawale, the Maharashtra wicketkeeper who was dropped for the season, will get $75,000. Raje, yet to make his first-class debut for Maharashtra, will receive $50,000.

I think it is open Dan. I could post there just now. Why can't you post? Where does it say that Twenty20 forum is closed?
Chandan,I read a post from Gambit in June last year that IPL forum will remain closed till the start of next edition. That's why..

I watched him bowl in the Aussie domestics and at the risk of earning the wrath of Salil for praising a Victorian' date=' this guy is really good. He is a late starter and might not be considered for Australia but bowls at a nippy 140 kmph and gets decent inswing at times. A very handy bowler.[/quote'] Agree with you, Nannes is quality. Saw in him the domestic T20s recently and he was getting it as high as 142-143 with swing. I'd have no issue if the Dicks pushed for him alone, but I'm sick of their whining about how Hodge and White and a whole lot of over the hill trundlers have been hard done by.

111 players in second IPL auction The IPL has announced an exhaustive list of 111 overseas players who will be considered for the second auction in Goa on February 6. Not surprisingly, Australians dominate the list (27) while the big difference from last year's edition is the addition of 21 England players. Each franchise has a maximum of US$2m to spend on their overseas signings in the auction, which gets underway on February 6, and it is likely that only about 16 players - or two per franchise - will be chosen out of the 112. The England players will be available for a three-week window in the tournament for the next two years, with Kevin Pietersen the star attraction. Pietersen has a base price of US$1.3 million, and it is expected that he could be the highest paid player. Veterans like Dominic Cork and Darren Gough also figure in the list.
