...and they call themselves Super Kings :hysterical:
the same state government provided super security to the 1st test against england late last year. if there is any violence during the the election campaigning in TN, it would certainly spell trouble for the state government . it would be difficult to provide fool proof security to IPL teams/media contingent/stadium/hotels/route.frankly the present state government cares about winning majority seats there rather than about cricket.

Not Just Tamil Nadu- No security for IPL in Bangalore Commissioner of Police, Bangalore city, Shankar Bidri said that the organizers of the Indian Premier League [images] will have to make security arrangements on their own when matches are played in Bangalore during the elections. When asked about the security arrangements during the IPL, he said that the city police is not in a position to provide security to the cricket matches at the time of the elections. "Our priority is the elections and we will deploy our entire force for the peaceful conduct of the polls," he said. Bidri said that in case the organizers need security from the city police then they could expect the same only after the elections. "I have conveyed the same to the Karnataka State Cricket Association," he also said. Home Minister V S Acharya when questioned about the same issue said that it would be better if the matches are held after May 16th due to security issues. "Like all other states, we too are not in favour of having the matches being played at the time of the elections," the Home Minister said.

All this open bickering about the dates and paramilitary forces etc… Isnt it a really dumb to thing to do, from the security standpoint? You’re essentially giving the terrorists an open invitation to come and strike by announcing before hand that security will not be as good as it could possibly be. This year’s IPL is truly make-or-break for Lalit Modi. If everything goes well, his profile will rise even further and he will be hailed as someone who defied the global security climate to successfully conduct such a large-scale event. If something untoward does happen, then that could signal the beginning of the unraveling of the Modi bandwagon. Given there are so many matches, spread across so many centers and dates, its almost impossible for the whole event to finish, without something or the other happening. It may not be a Lahore-style, help-yourself, buffet style invitation for terrorists to casually walk up and practice shooting at the team bus, but surely, given the logistical challenges of hosting such a large-scale event, its very easy to predict some sort of terror incident happening. What will happen then? Will the teams just pack up and go home, like they did in Pakistan? Or will they continue to play, like they did after last year’s strike in Jaipur? Only this time, the tolerance of international players may be much less, compared to last year, in the backdrop of the Lahore attacks.

Desperate to get the cash-rich event on track, the IPL’s top brass held a series of meetings since yesterday to fine-tune the schedule which has now taken into account the reservations and security constraints of the states hosting the matches.
