Ravindra Jadeja

Jadeja has now scored 15 50+ scores in last test 41 innings.

During this phase he has scored 1359 runs at avg of 48.53 with 1 century.

Easily most consistent Indian batsman along with Pant in recent times.

Is it time that he is given chance higher up the order considering that he plays like proper bat, taking time to settle in and isn't exactly great with tail?

His batting talent is getting wasted atm as he is left stranded with tail enders and out of form middle order isn't doing anything. He was good enough to score a 100 today.

We need to play both of them. Find a way to do it.

We played both of them in WTC final and paid the price.  On the other hand, NZ did not play a single spinner and won easily.

I agree Ashwin is at the peak of his bowling right now, but his batting is not reliable at all. There lies the problem.

Ideally if we had half a dozen decent batters, we could play both but due to the *wits at the top/middle we've had to compromise & I also include the eternal mediocrity Sharmaji in there - yes both of them!

Looks like Test cricket is where he belonged.

Remove him from Ranji.. lol :two_thumbs_up:

:phehe: .. Kaif was a good fielder.

Hmn.. 2000 Runs and 200 test wickets later.. Jaddu smiles at all the talk 10 years ago.

50 Test Sixes and lots of short format sixes later..  Jaddu says :yay:  Well 5 sixes in a over too ..lol

Goodness me ... people were not sure about Ashwin either.

Funny to read discussions from 10 years ago. Classic ICF stuff.

been saying this for a long long time .Any captain with  at least sense  would have played Jadeja at 6 long way back...

No his batting was not that good. He has improved over the last 3 or 4 seasons. It is not the batting position. At one point Ashwin was better than him. He has become a very important component in this one-dimensional team.

In 2012 15 matches (in all formats) 12 innings average 14 lol He was rightfully ridiculed.

Yeah I understand. But kudos to him for working hard on all aspects of his game and make his mark.

This is what his cric-info official page reads - lol

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." A fellow Gujarati, Mahatma Gandhi, could well have meant to say this about Ravindra Jadeja. The best of observers ignored his left-arm spin at first, then he was ridiculed for his three triple-centuries in Ranji Trophy, the idea of Jadeja the Test player was contested when India handed him a debut in 2012-13 against conventional wisdom, but Jadeja won them all over with over after over of unerring accuracy, and sits among the elite of Indian spin bowling now.

Applicable for all players. Kohli himself was ridiculed after first tour. Dropped. We even had AVKC thread.  People go through cycle. Now Kohli is under the pump. Ishant probably the most ridiucled bowler. In the last few years he has been more than decent. Rohit sharma hasn't quiet silenced his critics yet. He could very well.  Pandya is another guy who is under the gun rightfully. He might very well turn it around. Definitely compared to the venkatapathy rajus, ragul sangvis, nilesh kulkarnis we had in the 90s Radeja is a huge upgrade.  In turning conditions Ash/Jaddu are the biggest MVPs. Now Axar has joined the fun.

he has always been  averaging 50+ in FC.  So he deserved a spot in TOP 6 by that  yardstick itself. His bowling being that effective(<25 avg:)  it was worth an experiment with nothing to lose.Have come across  lots of times where a well settled Jadeja  being forced to slog in the  end in the company of tail enders, His very high percentage of not outs too proves my point.
