diga
Quote First skill in learning to negotiate is to recognise when you are in an negotiation. Second skill in negotiation is to articulate to yourself what the other party wants. Third skill in negotiation is how to REFUSE what the other party ASKS for without saying NO. Fourth skill in negotiation is to construct or articulate the PROBLEM that is stopping you accepting what's on the table. Fifth skill (and this one matters) in negotiation is to get the other party to solve your PROBLEM with only the information you have allowed them. Sixth skill in negotiation is to get to the person who is not on the table but is running the actual party on the table. Seventh skill in negotiation is to know that a bad deal is worse then no deal. Eighth skill in negotiation is to know when to stop lest the negotiation poison the fruits you are negotiating for. (almost every large company gets this wrong - hardballs can be so tough to swallow that they can choke you) Ninth skill in negotiation is to know how to walk away from the table in such a way that you are welcomed back another day. Tenth skill in negotiation is to know how to NOT negotiate when you cannot. From : Nice one on negotiations .. :)
