But that was just CM, PM was a different thing. And our media expected and wanted somebody good-looking, western educated, English fluency to lead the entire nation. After all, wasn't the biggest argument about the transformation between CM to PM was supposedly Modi's lack of skills in foreign relations and his interacting with world leaders? They forgot about a democratic process to elect the PM. And behaved like if Modi is not eligible to be PM? Was it due to his lower caste? Tea-seller background? Lack of western education? Like it or not, Modi becoming PM is good signs for democracy. It shows anybody can become PM even starting from the very bottom of life. I don't think that is totally correct or else same people would be having problem with many other previous PM like Lal Bahadur Shastri or HD Devigowda or even Mr Vajpayee. The problem was mostly due to his bold , non humble, not ready to take shet kind of nature which many people in India do not like. We are fed from our childhood that person who speaks less, who is well formally educated, is humble in nature is a good person this fierce nature of Modi was something new for a high level politician which many people were not able to digest.
