NRA Calls for Armed Officers in Schools

National Rifle Association, said that "the monsters and the predators of the world" have exploited the fact that schools are gun-free zones. Other important institutions—from banks to airports to sports stadiums—are protected with armed security, he said, but this country has left students defenseless. "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," Mr. LaPierre said at a news conference Friday morning.

I have random thoughts: How much would it cost for the schools to have a trained, armed security guard outside every school? Wouldn't it be worth it rather than take these chances any more? What does it cost to have an armed security guard outside every school door?
NRA finally comes out with a statement. Here are there solutions: a) We need more guns at schools. Funny thing is most people at my workplace thinks NRA is right..:((
BTW if any of u had doubts on how extreme right our resident conzzzzvative is, this should end the story. He claims to differ with republicans on guns, then blames democrats for the gun issue and now basically wants more guns on the school campus (for starters, lets see where else in the future) as long as the costs are covered. If that's not Hannity/Coulter category, I dunno what is :nervous:

I am simply at a loss- I don't know how the system can operate so poorly; this week 2 firemen were killed in NY when they came to take control of the fire. The killer is an ex-con who was released from prison after completing sentence for killing his grandmother. How the **** was this person who killed someone , had been in prison was able to obtain a vast array of guns and ammunition?? How can these incidents be stopped if killers like these are able to obtain ammunition like this?? Police Chief Gerald Pickering said 62-year-old William Spengler, who served 17 years in prison for the 1980 hammer slaying of his grandmother, armed himself with a revolver, a shotgun and a military-style rifle before he set his house afire to lure first responders into a death trap before dawn on Christmas Eve. Two firefighters were shot dead and two others are hospitalized in stable condition. Spengler killed himself as seven houses burned around him Monday on a narrow spit of land along Lake Ontario. One of the guns recovered was a military-style .223-caliber semiautomatic Bushmaster rifle with flash suppression, the same make and caliber weapon used in the elementary school massacre in Newtown, Conn., Pickering said. The two- to three-page typewritten note left by Spengler didn't give a motive for the shootings, Pickering said. He declined to divulge the note's full content or say where it was found, but read one line from it: "I still have to get ready to see how much of the neighborhood I can burn down, and do what I like doing best, killing people." This is beyond making any sense at all

It is so easy to put whole blame on that monster-kid (and mother/family). However, these earth-borne monsters are nothing but manifestations of 'bugs/defects' in the society itself. Unless the society as a whole doesn't take the responsibility and try to figure out constructive solutions, these things (and/or new forms) will keep happening. Educating your own kids (and near ones) is the least one can do. P.S. there is no good, in absence of bad/evil.

New photo of Newtown shooter Adam Lanza released with college records 130402-lanza-id-445p.photoblog600.jpghttp://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/04/02/17572857-new-photo-of-newtown-shooter-adam-lanza-released-with-college-records

When he took a placement exam in May 2008, Lanza refused to answer some background questions — including his gender. Asked whether he had a "documented disabling condition" that could impact his test scores, he said no — although his mother had told people he had Asperger's disease, which is low on the autism spectrum. Lanza was just 16 at the time, but he scored high on the test — in the 90th percentile. The records also show he registered for a precalculus class, but it's unclear if he ever took it. He did take three computer science courses, earning an A and an A-minus in two of them, and American history, where he received an A-minus. He got a C in a a class called "Introduction to Ethical Theory."
Danbury State's Attorney Releases Additional Information on December 14, 2012, Incident at Sandy Hook Elementary School http://www.ct.gov/csao/cwp/view.asp?a=1801&q=521714
On the morning of December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza, the shooter, age 20, of 36 Yogananda St., Newtown, shot his mother, Nancy Lanza, age 52, in her bed with a .22 caliber rifle. There was no indication of a struggle. Later the shooter went to Sandy Hook Elementary school where he shot his way into the building and killed 20 children and 6 adults with a Bushmaster .223 caliber model XM15 rifle. The Bushmaster was loaded with a 30-round capacity magazine. Fourteen rounds were in the magazine when the Bushmaster was recovered by police. There was one round in the chamber. The shooter took his own life with a single shot from a Glock 10 mm handgun. He also had a loaded 9mm Sig Sauer P226 handgun on his person. Recovered from the person of the shooter, in addition to more ammunition for the handguns, were three, 30-round magazines for the Bushmaster, each containing 30 rounds. Located in the area of the shootings were six additional 30-round magazines containing 0, 0, 0, 10, 11, and 13 live rounds respectively. One-hundred-and-fifty-four spent .223 casings were recovered from the scene. It is currently estimated that the time from when the shooter shot his way into the school until he took his own life was less than five minutes. The police found a loaded 12-gauge shotgun in the passenger compartment of the car the shooter drove to the school. The shotgun was moved by police from the passenger compartment of the car to the trunk for safekeeping. The guns used in the shootings were apparently all purchased by the shooter’s mother. There is currently no indication that the shooter attempted to purchase the guns and was denied. The gun locker at 36 Yogananda St. was open when the police arrived. It was unlocked and there was no indication that it had been broken into.
