hhunaeh Posted May 23, 2014 Share Posted May 23, 2014 According to the video posted in the article, the accused, a christian and a former bjp supporter, made a post on Christians facing holocaust, and later deleted it on March 23rd the day the bjp let Muthalikji into the party. Muthalikji if one recalls heads Rama Sene which is known for attacking pubs in mangalore and beating up girls. They are also known for Muthalik’s entry would rattle his state’s Christians who remember the Sene attacks on churches and Christian homes in Karnataka districts bordering Goa. In July 2012, when Muthalik had threatened to come to Goa and do a Karnataka repeat, Parrikar had warned him he would be arrested on the border. The Sene chief stayed away. The fir was filed on Mar 26th, but the police waited till May 12th, the day the exit poll results were announced, to issue summons for a custodial inquiry to get hold of his deleted posts. The police has also said "Custodial interrogation of the accused is very much essential to find out any motive of larger game plan to promote communal and social disharmony in the state" So letting Muthalikji into the party on mar 23rd, who is accused of attacking churches, was not "motive of larger game plan to promote communal and social disharmony in the state" but a citizen posting a angry reaction and later retracting it is. :giggle: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bhatkal falls under the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. Waqas Barmawar, son of noted Bhatkal-based Nawaithi and Urdu poet Samiullah Barmawar, was apprehended along with four of his friends from an apartment in Bangalore by the city police's Central Crime Branch late on Saturday evening. The other four were released on Sunday afternoon after questioning but Waqas continues to be in police custody. Police sources said that he has been taken to Khanapur in Belgaum for questioning. The MMS that Waqas has been arrested for circulating shows a corpse with Modi's face morphed on to it. The caption reads "Abki bar, antim sanskaar (This time around, there will be last rites)", a pun on BJP's popular election slogan "Abki bar Modi sarkar (This time around, there will be Modi's government)". The image was allegedly doing the rounds on a few groups on chatting application WhatsApp, which are administered by the party. According to sources, this image was accidentally forwarded to a BJP supporter in Belgaum who complained to the police. The arrest has triggered outrage among AAP activists in the state who claim that this was a political satire and Waqas' arrest is an affront to their freedom of speech. Party sources also claimed that another Muslim youth from Sirsi, 100 km from Bhatkal, was detained by police on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Bhatkal unit of the party has decided to hold a demonstration before the police HQ in the town. Raghavendra Thane, who contested the general elections from Uttara Kannada on an AAP ticket, told HT, "We will hold State wide protests. This is an outrage. The BJP targeted us selectively during the campaigning. In Bhatkal, they consistently picked on Muslim members of our party. Now that Modi is in power, the police have also joined the BJP." Another AAP activist from Bhatkal said on the condition of anonymity: "The police in Bhatkal as well as BJP activists started referring to the AAP as Yasin Bhatkal's party because many Muslim youth joined us." Waqas is presently pursuing his MBA from a college in Bhatkal and is a summer intern at a firm in Bangalore. Although many senior police officers confirmed the details of the arrest, no one was willing to go on the record about the details. In a similar case, on Saturday, 31-yearold Mumbai-based shipbuilding professional was booked in Goa for alleged anti-Modi comments on social networking site Facebook.
