Sachin=GOD
Surprised Xavi is left out. Definitely better midfielder than Pirlo from the current generation along with Zidane. Isn't Zidane form the previous generation? Also, Zidane is way ahead of any of these.
BeautifulGame
Isn't Zidane form the previous generation? Also' date=' Zidane is way ahead of any of these.[/quote'] Zidane certainly isnt way ahead of Xavi.Xavi probably is slightly ahead of Zidane if anything imo. Xavi has been the cornerstone of arguably the greatest club side as well as national side But yeah slightly different generations for sure . maniac
Zidane for me is the greatest playmaker to play the game, but again EPL fanatics will equate him to Beckham

Again they create and score loads. Ziddane just looked good!

Raghav_12
I would say Maradona as being greatest midfielder of all time. Zidane of last 20 years. Anyways my football understanding is limited and don't follow it much outside world cups.

King Tendulkar
Prilo is being massively over rated here. Good player but come on....
King Tendulkar
Players like pirlo and xavi need a team to play that over emphahsis possession style football which spain and barca do to be successful. I think they will struggle in different systems and teams that play in different ways. Good players but they need a certain methodology in team to do well. Players like rivaldo and maradona don't need that. They can play anywere any time. Massivley undertaed player was dunga. Fantastic passer and on ball. But had the defensive qualities which pirlo and xavi do not have. Other players who spring to mind in xavi and pirlo mode was Late Socrates, wow elegance. Gerson and Matthaus are others that spring to mind. Great midfielders

maniac
Choker??? What cos he missed one pen. Don't be silly I am sure you saw the Miss....if that wasn't epic choke then what is? Zidane raised his game in a W.C final and in S.F...No Comparison. Also why is Luis Figo being ignored here....Played with an average team and almost was a one-man army for Portugal
BeautifulGame
I am sure you saw the Miss....if that wasn't epic choke then what is? Zidane raised his game in a W.C final and in S.F...No Comparison. Baggio both their goal in their 2nd round , late winner in QF against Spain and both the goals in semi final in a 2-1 win as well in the 94 wc. Ulitmate big game performances in a world cup ever arguably.Yet because he missed a spot kick in the final he is a choker ? Its like when people say Zidane ia a choker for head butting and screwing France in 06 final forgetting how he single handedly dragged them to the final in the first place Also why is Luis Figo being ignored here....Played with an average team and almost was a one-man army for Portugal Rui Costa Deco Carvalho and Ronaldo(in euro 04) .That was their golden generation hardly one man team. Still failed to qualify for 98 and 2002 wc as well.
