Ashwin has to step up in this scenario. He can't be leaking runs from one end and put pressure on pacers when Bumrah isn't bowling.

 

At least hold one end and pick up 1-2 wickets. Siraj, Shami, Shardul will take care of rest.

i cant agree more...ashwin disappoints in SENA countries and then he cries when he is not picked.

very impressive bowling by all Indian fast bowlers.

 

shamm and shardul were fantastic and even siraj bowled well, he was a bit slow then what i expected. boom was good too.

he is back on the field and cleaned up the Maharaja. I really hope he stays fit for the series

I am assuming that the Team India phisio has deemed it reasonably safe after inspecting Bumrah.

Shami hit the right line and length right away. Kept bowling in good areas while hitting the deck hard. 

 

Got consistent seam movement and bounce and zipped the ball through.

 

Used the conditions excellently and led the bowling unit excellently in the absence of Bumrah after his first spell.

 

Well deserved 5 fer and 200 test wickets !

Shami is well ahead. He is In the class of wasim and bumrah. You don't need to play even 50 tests to know if a player is great or not. Impact matters more.

very likely. he was looking really dangerous. even so, the other bowlers removed their foot from pedal. from 32/4, we should still have got them out for 150

Bumrah bowled a vicious short ball to Maharaj and had him doubling over after hitting his midriff. 

 

And this happened after coming back from injury.  He was bowling around 140 k too, so hopefully he is reasonably ok.
