Saini, shami, bumrah all played together in the aus odi's, injuries and workload allowed both shardul and natarajan to play in the final odi and then the t20s. Playing like to like bowlers chahar, bhuvi and shardul together is the issue, there is not much planning when it comes to selection and playing seamers in the wrong format is another issue, as long as Siraj, prasidh and saini get to play test cricket together soon with ishant being phased out I would be happy. Odi's only one from bhuvi and chahar should play with bumrah and Siraj, backup prasidh, shardul for his batting exploits and hopefully saini to.

IMO we should stick to these Team  Compositions.

Tests outside Asia ....

6.  Pant / Kishan ... batsman keeper with hitting ability

7.  Jadeja / Ashwin / Washington ... spinner all-rounder

8.  Shardul ... bowling all-rounder cum swing bowler

9. Bumrah ... quick bowler

10. Prasidh / Saini  ... tall quick bowler

11. Siraj / Shami ... quick bowler who can move the ball

LOIs ....

6. Hardik / Venkatesh ... big hitting batting allrounder

7. Jadeja / Axar ... spinner all-rounder with hitting ability

8. Harshal / D.Chahar / Bhuvi ... bowling all-rounder cum slower ball specialist

9. Ashwin / Bishnoi ... spinner

10. Bumrah ... Quick bowler cum death over specialist

11. Siraj / Prasidh ... Quick bowler cum new ball specialist

**    The Quick bowlers should have the ability to hit top speeds of 145 k+.

**    The pace bowling all-rounder at 8 should be a swing bowler too.

Great post. Agree fully with test team, although Sundar could eventually make a push higher up the order.

As for ODIs, I feel Samad and eventually Tilak Varma should be in the mix for No. 6 or No. 7 if they work on bowling. To be frank, I do not feel that either Jaddu or Axar are suited at 7. for jaddu, he cannot score at a high enough SR and Axar in LOIs is better suited for No. 8. Similarly, our pacers at 8 are all trundlers who are not proven high SR players with the bat. need to groom likes of nalkande. Mavi/Nagarkoti are another option but only if they get back to consistent bowling form (with pace) and also improve batting.

I will be very happy if Washington is chosen for No.5.  But as there is little chance of it actually happening as of today, because of the conservative TM, I hope he can sneak in at 7

What I have outlined is the need of the team to maintain an effective team composition. We can obviously improve the players available for those slots, if possible.

Like, at No 8, if we can get a tall swing bowler bowling 132 k to 142 k and bat at a great SR ... it would be wonderful.

P.S ... I think the team composition issue warrants a thread by itself.

I will open a new thread and we can discuss the available options in detail.

In an interview today, Shashtri says he and bharat arun were behind the push for fast bowling.

Hope the new coach and captain doesnt stop the focus on fast bowling just because they focus on other issues like middle order and out of form batsmen.

Fast bowling should still be priority no 1

But to many of geniuses here Shastri was just a muppet aand yes man for Kohli .

England's bowling is so ineffective and boring to watch outside England and NZ (  if Archer and Wood are absent ... and they rarely, if ever, play together )

4 or 5 medium pacers just putting the ball there without pace and without adequate movement.

Conceding close to 500, in a pink ball test, is very poor bowling indeed.

This is what happens when you overload the side with trundlers without sparing a thought over conditions you are playing in,maybe England had no choice but something to learn for the jokers in Indian selection committee

Remember the name must remember this

Jhye Richardson looked impressive.

He is a skiddy pacer and was moving the ball at 136 k to 140 k in his first spell.

Bowling a fuller length and bowling in good areas generally.

he reminds me of a mix between bumrah and shami. terrific bowler. he is 5'10. 5'10 - 6 foot seems to be the perfect height for being fast, aggressive and still maintain adequate bounce. Really tall guys struggle on non bouncy wickets. as in 6'2 plus. but this range between 5'10 - 6 foot seem special for fast bowling. marshall, steyn, bumrah, bond. jhye now, ryan harris, haris rauf for the lols, larwood, frank tyson, lockie ferguson if he actually is fit, shoaib akthar, shami, waqar although overrated, denis lillee, mark wood although he is mediocre, malinga in the past, mohammed siraj now.....

list goes on,

Prasidh Krishna 1 for 17 from 8 overs ... as Karnataka dismiss Rajasthan for 200.

Good to see him bowling economically in 50 over cricket.

yes, if he adds a bit of control without compromising on pace and bounce, then he will make an even stronger push for tests. of course, he should have already been playing by now
