Fastest Bowler in Asia Since Wahab Riaz

Yes. He is. I want to see blood though. More intimidation. There will never be another shoaib I feel from Pakistan ever again. The new ones seem a bit softer. Shoaib was one of a kind. I will always have shoaib in the conversation for top 10 bowlers of all time.

@Jay who do you think is fastest bowler in the world right now?

Which format brah. On average. I am going based of averages ok.

T20s ?  Probably rauf or wood or nortje no?

Although post injury I feel nortje speed will be lower. Mark my words.

Odi? Starcy I suppose. Nortje and perhaps lockie? Or wood

Tests? Starc again on average. He is 143 and wood.

Rauf In odi? What's his speeds. Would be 140 plus I imagine on average.

Let alone Shoaib I don't think there will be a 100Mph bowler again

Absolutely. Modern ones are too professional and very mechanical.

Shoaib brought that intimidation factor. Jaan marna Walla fast bowler. I will never forget shoaib. One of my favourite bowlers of all time. Except when he starts talking jeez.

Modern ones that are intimidating when on song are probably Cummins bumrah and rabada. When these 2 decide to crank it up and hurl bouncers they are absolutely brutal.

But still shoaib was way more entertaining and faster. Less accurate but way faster.

All formats? Tough one. Possibly wood or starc I suppose. Going with wood. Lock that in computer ji.

In India? Well until 2020 it was bumrah who was bowling 139-140 on average.

Now it's umran in t20. In odi and tests it probably saini if he is fully fit as seen in s.a A tours. Otherwise probably bumrah. Bumrah is around 137-138 on average for tests.

I am one of the biggest bowling speed enthusiasts on this site.I just love quick bowling, especially from Indian Fast Bowlers.

But this thread is getting derailed in the last 5 pages or so.

Pace bowling in cricket is NOT a speed gun contest  !!

The purpose of high bowling speeds are ---

1)  Hurrying batsmen consistently

2)  Bowling hostile short balls from time to time.

.... Resulting in taking wickets and winning matches.

If a bowler is able to do them ... using a mixture of

1)  High release speeds

2)  Zip off the deck

3)  Steep bounce

4)  Late movement

5)  Sufficient accuracy to utilize the above four aspects effectively

... that is what matters.

The reasons why I track speeds closely are

1)  Whether a pacer has SUFFICIENT speed needed for international cricket.

2)  Speed readings tell us whether a pacer is bowling at HIS OPTIMUM speeds.

3)  If that's not the case then the pacer maybe

....  Lacking rhythm

....  Having some niggle or injury

....  Lacking match fitness or getting too old

....  Having issues with ball release

I want to gauge these aspects.

4)  It is a fun to track speeds for fast bowling enthusiasts.

Saini has clocked higher speeds than Bumrah and Wahab has clocked higher speeds than Shaheen. But no sane Indian speed enthusiast would want Saini in place of Bumrah. And no sane Pakistani speed enthusiast would want Wahab in place of Shaheen.

Yes ... we will all be very happy when one of our countrymen clocks 150 kph +

But, from a cricket point of view, having sufficient speed to hurry batsmen regularly and bowl hostile short balls from time to time, is good enough.

@Mosher, @Suhaan, @Vijy, @sarchasm, @rollingstoned, @SRT100  this thread has discussed Pace bowling and bowling speeds with passion and objectivity for the last 8 years. Suddenly, a handful of new Padosi posters are derailing this thread. If the Pakistani pacers are quick, let them be. Maybe, I should change the name of this thread to include Indian pacers to stop this derailment. Let them open a separate thread to bicker about Pakistani pacers.

I have watched rauf bowl live. Shaheen and husnain. None have the ability to hurry batsmen. None. None of them have a brutal bouncer. Can't bowl short ball barrages for spells.

Shaheen is the best of their lot. He is a stud but he doesn't not have a killer bouncer. Maybe one here and there. He is not a bounce based player. He is more of a yorker guy. He will struggle in australia, England and possibly n.z.

He will do ok in s Africa where there is help in seam friendly conditions. I rate him very highly but he lacks the ability to intimidate batsmen and can't operate with the old ball

Watch his performances at death in odi. He struggles quite often as witness by thrashings vs wade. He will struggle as soon as new ball wears off.

He is a philander level talent. Top tier in certain conditions but struggles on flatties.
