Harshit was bowling his fuller balls quite well in the IPL.  These are young guys and some up and down will happen in their execution from time to time.

Mayank was very impressive with both his fuller and shorter balls and was using surprise bounce and follow up fuller balls very effectively.

I was talking about his line not length.

If you look at India's recent pace bowling history, you will get the picture.

Ishant and Umesh were below par bowlers till 2014 and Shami was just about ok.

Then came Kohli, Arun and Shastri ... and the same pacers became good and then really good. All average in the low 20s in the last few years in tests.

Bumrah was like a super-hero in Kohli-Arun-Shastri"s tenure.

Then, the same super bowlers were not able to defend high scores in SA and England under Dravud -Rohit- Mhambrey.

What does this tell us ????

Any one who has bowled with effort knows that Fast bowling is an extreeeemly taxing activity. Pacers often feel that they will fall down and die in hot conditions. There are constant niggles, pain, exhaustion and even major injuries.

What keeps them going are constant encouragement and a positive team environment for fiery wicket taking bowling.

If they are treated as unwanted or their bowling with effort and pace are not appreciated then what is left are the exhaustion, pain and niggles.

Most Indians don't understand this and this why we did not get good quicks.  Kohli, Arun and Shastri were among a few who understood this and got the results.

Kohli was the captain in SA. Rohit didn't even play.

i appreciate kohli, arun and shastri for that.

Since Dravid has taken over - not a single pace bowler has succeeded where as during Shastri's times - boom was a BOMB and shammi, ishant and Umesh were called out as deadly bowlers and they delivered results too.

what you have said is perfectly TRUE- fast bowlers need to be taken care and encouraged. we have Umran and he is definitely not getting the kind of training that he deserves.

Dravid and Mhambrey were already there.

Rahul was captain in the 2nd test in which we lost.

.

The trio of Arun -Kohli - Shastri wasn't there in that series.

We played the same pacers. Are you suggesting the bowlers completely forgot what they learnt from Arun in 6 months even though Kohli was captain?

Everyone needs guidance. When you change personnel, they follow new guidelines. Dravball and dumbo Mambray tactics. Yes it does make a difference. Not to mention we had the wonderful rift between fatro and kohli which created a tumultuous environment for the players in general.

Naseem has made Mathews his bunny of sorts. Makes him look like a tailender.

90 Mph outswingers. Quicker than Pathirana.

Naseem atm is the closest thing to young Steyn.

He is the closest to malinga in tests.

They are not 10 year old kids. They know what worked for them.Screw the 'guidelines' if they know better. Only results matter. They have to take ownership.

Rift was there even in Eng series. Rohit didn't travel to SA.

I agree. But cmon it's obvious though man. Yo yo fitness was terminated since this bozo took over.

They can't even do 16 level. Nz does 20 for yo yo fitness.

Explains why our fitness levels went down post kohli.

Johli had his own flaws btw. I don't rate him at all as a LoI captain with his bird brain selections but he did well in tests. He stuffed up some selections there too but overall he back fast bowlers.

All these dhull ghull new wannabe gangsters all love spin and gentle trundlers. I only trust jaiswal, sundar if fit, pant if he is back and as players with/or are already capitsncy candidates.

Best young bowler going around, by a country mile.

In Pakistan maybe. Standard is low them

He is a nothing bowler. Genetically weak too. Shaheen is 5 times the bowler.

You will see his real ability in sena.

With fast bowlers one cant relax ,they need backups to cover for lack of fitness ,injury or lack of pace but now they are picking medium pacers. The pack is no longer there.
