Insidious
Its either stupidity or evil intentions from dhoni and co Just imagine if aaron and yadav( would have been in all my sides from SA series onwards and by now would have been possibly been complete product) had played in whole series from first test. Who knows by aus away series we could be ready to take them on. Alas dhoni has different ideas and agendas What a chance missed. The chance to groom and develop genuine fast bowlers. Look at Broad and Anderson blow us away today, yet they also were raw at start and panned for many a fault but stuck with and backed and look what England have Its not Dhoni, the whole system that is screwing us. There is a pawan suyal, a genunine left arm fast bowler getting overlooked as if we have fast bowlers in every gully and mohalla where as that skinny trundler unadkat is getting chances after chances in A tours. with This pathetic system how can a fast bowler survive and for how long! vishalvirsingh
Varun can bowl a good spell supported by bk and we get them under 225...then we can make a match of it. Link to comment
vishalvirsingh
Varun bowled many 144 145k balls and his line length and rhythm was ok. ..If He bowls another 3 spells of 5 overs he will definitely get a fiver. Link to comment

Rest of world is literally obsessed with picking anyone fast, while we seem obsessed with not picking someone quick as apparently they spray it everywere!!! Remember sunny on comm once. Literally burst out with anger once and in exasperation saying (cant remember exact words) " We should not play fast bowlers, we must learn we will never have fast bowlers, need to focus on line and length bowlers" The culture is ingrained ps any coinicidence sunny is short and thus his views are such:giggle: Link to comment

Nobody gets a Dale Steyn in a day. But we, as a nation, want that finished product. The moment a fast bowler bowls a couple of wides and no balls or gives away a few runs ... we are angry. Unless we can tolerate the work-in-progress fast bowlers .... nothing will happen. A genuine quick will never be as accurate etc. as a medium pacer during his formative years which includes the first 3 years or so in international cricket , provided he is given regular chance. You mention Steyn. He was poor in his first chance in 2006,got dropped after few chances and he worked on his bowling with Pont, played some county and immediately produced results in his comeback Link to comment
FischerTal
well bowled aaron.hopefully dhoni and fletcher back him to bowl bouncer barrage tomorrow morning.he should be used in short spells along with bhuvi in tandem.both different type of bowlers will unsettle the batsmen a bit.ashwin bowled well as well' date='hopefully he knocks of a few lefties[/quote'] condtions will be overcast as well. all aaron has to do i replicate johnson. poms just can't stand the short ball. if ishant can bounce you out, aaron will do much better. You mention Steyn. He was poor in his first chance in 2006,got dropped after few chances and he worked on his bowling with Pont, played some county and immediately produced results in his comeback In test matches, the biggest performance of a bowler is taking wickets. Because, that is what wins matches. But, we often gauge it by economy rate, number of no balls, a few wayward deliveries etc. Nobody expects a bowler to go on playing tests if he can't take wickets. But, if he can, especially compared to the other bowlers in the team, then he should not be dropped or discouraged because of the factors I mentioned above. That is my point. A good quality fast bowler usually has more impact in tests than a good quality medium pacer. But, they normally take some more time to mature in terms of economy etc. Link to comment
Old guy
so was aaron getting any swing ? to me he was getting seam movement which is good but he needs to get more consistent but with his pace he will always be a threat Link to comment

rkt.india
All 4 England bowlers were 84-85 mph on average, quickest 89-94 mph. Aaron was quicker on average than them 88 mph. Link to comment

No other country does this. They wont say drop the fats bowler and put in 5ft 6 inch 6 stone 76 mph bowler, only in India We have no idea how to develop pacers 3 years ass rapes and you talk about not sacrificiying winning!!! King Tendulkar
Cook was having a wonderful net last match and this one. Technique all nice, that little forward press and playing straight and playing forward all working how worked nicely at nets. Feet and all moving great, technique that worked on pefect. Suddenly aaron comes on. First Ball rapid. It did not move and was not even that great, half volley that was straight just outside off. Cook all at sea, late on it, misses it, looks suddenly clumsy. Then aaron baowls fast bouncer, little press and moving forward all over the place, cant react quick enough and rock back quick enough, goes for pull, mistimes, hurried. OUT Balance whole series having a nice net, again getting forward at will. AAron fast bouncer. Balance suddenly has ideas in his head. Next ball length ball at 88 mph. Before nicely going forward to trundlers. Suddnely stays back cos of pace, pinned in crease, lbw with old ball late in day. OUT Why did the above 2 happened? Pace These fast bowlers like aaaron not finished product but need backing and playing, will get better and better. Players like BK will massively betnefit from fast bowlers, as work in pairs and will help get bats on back foot which will aid BK get them out. Sick of seeing us peppered by fast bowlers, time to give it back. We for first time have 2 express bowlers. FFS play them, unleash them Link to comment
