Here's a video claiming Waqar was super duper quick. I dont deny he was very quick. Infact, the first delivery shown in this video is at 150k's. However, there are ample bowlers who have bowled at 150.

It gets interesting at 2:30. The commentators keep saying the delivery was super quick. Turns out the delivery was at 142!

@Muloghonto remember we were having the conversation about Malcolm Marshall and Bumrah?

Old man @Muloghonto will come and yap about how back in the day average pace of bowlers used to be 145 and what not

Good comic relief though!

Waqar bowled 142.6 kph in 2003 WC as well. Though I doubt speedguns of that WC.

Waqar was quick in his earlier days, not express but quick like Bumrah. Around 1994-95 he lost his pace quite a lot when he got injured.

Srinath too suffered same trajectory, he too was quick and at times express. That shoulder injury in 97's dented his performance for couple of years, he picked up pace though later again once he recovered 100%.

Srinath left McGrath and everyone  to dust in early 98 Aus tour to India ,from both sides

And was almost 150 kph in 99WC only behind Akhtar

I was looking at the Duleep Trophy teams.

As expected, BCCI went safe and didn't pickup any "out of box" selections for the fast bowlers. Same old tried and failed shitty formula is being repeated again.

Starting with Team A

Akashdeep, Khaleel, Avesh, Kaverappa, Prasidh

Akashdeep & to some extent Prasidh looks good. Avesh & Khaleel have been a failure so far, what we will achieve by playing the same failures again ? They are mediocre and they will he mediocre. Kaverappa looks decent but will he be better than Prasidh or Akash ? Also this team is full of tall hit the deck bowlers. Someone like Vaibhav Arora must have added a variety here.

Team B

Siraj, Yash, Mukesh, Mohit. 3 pure trundlers and one decent pacer whose performance is flickering like an under powered tubelight. Why didn't we selected Sen or Yudhvir here ? This teams needs a tall hit the deck bowler, all they have are good length floaty seam bowlers.

Team C

Kamboj, Warrier, Umran, Vyshak, Himanshu. Variety is good, Warrier & Himanshu & tall hit the deck, while Umran is pacy and skiddy. Anshul Kamboj's stats are very poor in FC...we could have easily fit Tyagi here in place of Kamboj. Vyshak is just meh.

Team D

Arshdeep, Tushar, Harshit, Aditya & Sengupta.

Is Arshdeep a whiteball bowler ? Will he be able to sustain his pace, was barely clocking 127-128 while bowling 10 overs. Tushar is pacy but is brainless with no ability to move the bowl. No Idea about Aditya & Sengupta...would have really loved to see Prithviraj & Hangargekar here. Not sure what's going on.

the problem is that objectives of this trophy are not defined, what made them change the format from zonal to this??

but this is a good initiative should have something same for t20 and 50 overs too

Its invitational cup so if some1 can feature their teams they are welcomed to do so, TNCA being host may have decided to field 2 team to create 4 groups with 3 teams in each group.

We cant blame the selectors if Sen and Tyagi are injured most of the times.

Sen and Tyagi have hardly played 1 or 2 matches in last year Ranji season.

The selection committee has given opportunity to someone like Sengupta who plays for Assam.

If Tyagi,Sen doesn't get selected in the Duleep Trophy which has almost the top pacer in domestic, they should really figure out their future for India team, otherwise they would be IPL specialists.

I don't think they have selected top pacers only from Duleep.

Akash Sengupta, Kamboj, Khaleel all have mediocre FC stats.

Vaibhav's numbers are better than the 3 above..not part of any XI.

I still think they have went through Sifarishi players. Kamboj played for MI and he finds a place in the Duleep.

Watch out for young Bangla quick Nahid Rana tomorrow.  He is set to play.

Might be fastest pacer on show from both sides @Nikhil_cric

Interesting. Is he the one who played against SL? He was pretty quick in that match.

Shaheen's speeds have crashed fo the low 130's.

Naseem should be the quickest amongst the Pakistanis and even Mohammad Ali might pip Shaheen.
