each team will have 4 pacers,2 spinners n all roundersn batters...

i think it will be golden opportunity for karthk, umraan, mayank to grab wickets...heard guys like wasim bashir n other pacers will also be in competition .

ilook forward to this..hopefully they create green tracks

Do not think uncapped-IPL players will get a chance, unless some1 is looked upon as a test only batter or bowler.

How long is Mayank gonna be out?? Even people with stress fractures are back in 4-5 months on most occasions unless there’s a surgery.

Hes at that age where he is going to get injured. So at some point he should start playing instead of spending excessive periods of time in fitness centers. Manage the workload, rest when injured but ALSO start playing when you can.

Also absolutely no news. Dont we have sports journalism these days??

Overall decent squads.

Awasti, Khamboj, Thakre and Vyshak are wasted spaces.

Could have tried Kartik Tyagi.

And where is Simarjeet ?

There is no point in choosing medium to short height medium pacers unless they are amazing bowlers.

Selection by some wasted selectors too it seems..

Kartik Tyagi and  Simarjeet have hardly played red-ball cricket in Domestics.

Would say this is good initiative, should have similar trophies for odis and t20s and there should be clear understanding of who is t20 player who is ODI and who is test.

The problem is the short sightedness in last 3/4 years they kept recycling players like Unadkaat, Avesh, Khaleel and included players like Mukesh in all 3 formats and then carried Saini in Ind A tours, now you do not have much options in red-ball either you take a punt on bowlers like Simarjeet, Tyagi, umraan and other or include seasoned performers. and include the bowlers who are already in rotation - Avesh, Khaeel, Mukesh, Singh etc...

And with the short sightedness the other bowlers like Sen, Simarjeet etc are already 26-28 yo and they have not played much cricket.

IMO this should be the core group of fast bowling in no particular order for test cricket :::

Coregoup -

Bhumrah, Shami, Siraj, Akash deep, Singh, Rana, Umran, Mayank, Simarjeet, Tyagi (rated highly here by some, still to show case a good season in any tournament), Himanshu (need to check his pace),Sen

Out side core group-

Mukesh kumar, Mukesh Choudhary, Dayal, Avesh, Khaleel, Arora, Mohsin, Arsad, Yudhvir, Sakib (KKr camp is excited about him at least their SM handles) and then there could be people like Avinash Singh (RCB pick think he was not in IPL auctions last time due to injury),Kaverappa, Pradish

Here's a video claiming Waqar was super duper quick. I dont deny he was very quick. Infact, the first delivery shown in this video is at 150k's. However, there are ample bowlers who have bowled at 150.

It gets interesting at 2:30. The commentators keep saying the delivery was super quick. Turns out the delivery was at 142!

@Muloghonto remember we were having the conversation about Malcolm Marshall and Bumrah?

Old man @Muloghonto will come and yap about how back in the day average pace of bowlers used to be 145 and what not

Good comic relief though!

Waqar bowled 142.6 kph in 2003 WC as well. Though I doubt speedguns of that WC.

Waqar was quick in his earlier days, not express but quick like Bumrah. Around 1994-95 he lost his pace quite a lot when he got injured.

Srinath too suffered same trajectory, he too was quick and at times express. That shoulder injury in 97's dented his performance for couple of years, he picked up pace though later again once he recovered 100%.

Srinath left McGrath and everyone  to dust in early 98 Aus tour to India ,from both sides

And was almost 150 kph in 99WC only behind Akhtar
