This will push their case for the tour . They also need to convince the selectors that they are fit enough to last the lengthy tour. The worry is that these bowlers in last two seasons have hardly played a complete season.Playing few matches in IPL isn't enough That is a big ask, a problem statement. When you already know you are not favored, and all your moves will be analyzed, and even if one performs well there's no certainty of selection, it puts a big stress on players. The motivation is already low. You have already pushed them on the backfoot, and then you expect them to outshine others in the limited chance you give them in order to be selected, its just not fair. Even a sports psychologist will confirm that that is not the ideal mindframe to perform at your optimum. My 2 pence is, dont expect great performances. But trust that they will perform with time. Knowing Indian selectors, they will have one or the other reason to select mukeshgrath and the likes.

After this, he again does his bowling in the nets. All of this is something which he is doing there on a daily basis, as per what he told me.” “He bowls eight-ten overs daily, and I did ask him why he wasn’t named in Duleep Trophy squads. To this, Mayank replied, ‘Sir, I have been told not to go into it as I can’t put too much load on my body and concentrate on white-ball cricket for now’,” said Devendra to IANS. “The good news is, he’s bowling right now and can be considered for future teams, as he’s sending down a lot of deliveries at the NCA. He’s told me, ‘Sir I am becoming fit and pain-free, as well as bowling eight to ten overs daily.’ I am sure that in coming time, he will take the field again,” adds Devendra. TA Sekhar — “He is young and has terrific potential, but has not played much of cricket. So, straightaway, you cannot put him in a Test match where if he bowls 20 overs, he will get injured again. That’s why, he has to play some cricket, and the last he played was sometime in April-end.” “He has terrific potential, but India needs to groom him. Definitely, he is a terrific bowler with the white-ball. But for red-ball, we have to wait and see, because nobody has seen him playing red ball cricket consistently,” he concluded. And Sekar wanted to remodel his action lol - “I hope NCA makes sure he is strengthened in the areas where he is getting injured, and remodel his action. Hopefully, he should be coming back and bowling at the same speed, and in the same way bowled in IPL and other matches, because if he is not picked for the Duleep Trophy and if he doesn’t play the Ranji Trophy, how people could pick him for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy?” So good news is that he’s bowling 8-10 overs daily. I’ve said this time and time again. If he’s fit to bowl that many overs, he should be playing LOIs. Why is he getting wasted preparing for red ball cricket in training camps for FIVE months?? That can be done simultaneously or with strategic breaks while he kickstarts his international career. I agree with Sekar with the white ball part but I’ll be very skeptical / cautious about changing (remodeling) his action. Just get him in white ball international cricket first. 7 T20Is coming up 3 against BD and in SA. He should be in the T20 squad for those games. MK55, Ultimate_Game and Mosher 3

Need4Speed Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 Since Mayank got late entry into cricket and he bowls extreme pace..we all know his body is not ready yet to take the stress of 5 day game.. what disappointed me was that he couldnt even handle T20 matches.. Keeping that in mind..its fine to give him ample time to prep and get his body ready first for playing white ball.. first he should be able to play white ball matches consistently and then we should think about red ball matches.. Regarding action iirc @rkt.india also mentioned his action may need some tweak to avoid injuries..how much time it requires to settle into new action ..expert knows more about it.. In any case even if we start with him in white ball and tweak in bowling technique..I am fine with that if it means we dont lose him..

He is at that age where bowlers will get injured, and I think he has been bowling with that action for some time, so his body is kinda used to it. Historically, changing the action has never worked for us, we lost Aaron once he changed his action, was half a bowler and had no control. Tyagi is another one who keeps on changing his action every season. Ishant tried to mould his action as well, completely lost his seam presentation for almost 5-6 years. I think BCCI and selectors should have some vision and use bowlers like Harshit, Akashdeep in red ball. Maybe even try Avesh or Vaibhav as well, they may end up better than white ball. Mayank can focus on white ball only for some time. We don't need to drag Bumrah everywhere. Edited September 2, 2024 by singhvivek141

As long as he Mayank is back to extreme pace and playe white ball cricket till he is ready for red its fine.. I still want Boom to play in some important white ball matches with them so he can help these you g bowlers on thought process, planning and execution and they get a chance to learn from him

Need4Speed Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 I saw the highlights of Nahid’s bowling..In addition to his pace his height is helping him to get extra bounce which is troubling batters in even those flat tracks.. if he can remain injury free he is going to be a very difficult bowler to face with more experience Lone Wolf, tapandrun, Mosher and 1 other 4

On a serious note, we will go with Ashwin-Jadeja-Bumrah-Shami...5th bowler can be one of Kuldeep, Siraj or someone new (Akash, Harshit).
Forward Defence Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Kuldeep needs to play. Will be a good option against their lefties. Is Bumrah playing this series?

He is playing club cricket since 14-15. He played for Delhi u19. Late entry was what Umesh Yadav and Zaheer Khan had who started playing proper season ball cricket after 18 years of age.
