He was net bowler for Gujarat Titans..perhaps he may be picked this time

Most of the pacy Delhi quicks these days are tall and hitting the deck really hard for bounce and seam movement.  Mayank, Hardhit, Simarjeet, Himanshu, Grewal etc.

But we are not using any of them yet.

Khaleel, Avesh, Arshdeep are taller than all of these. Only Mukesh is shorter.

Anyone has update on Mayank? There're bunch of matches & leagues being played, and about to be played. Find it concerning that Mayank's name is not featured anywhere. Do we know what's his injury status and how long is he out for?

no update after that he was in nca, they have given him strength and conditioning plan, after bhumrah's injury reoccured after getting good to go, they are being extra conscious. do not think mayank will be seen in bgt.

They are not sure if shami will be fit before1st bgt match. Umran and Siraj are recovering frm dengue so will be missing duleep trophy.

Players can only play their domestic side leagues so DPL fr mayank but he was not declared fit by the time of auctions.

Nahid Rana next big thing for BD imo

This guy must be brought into their ODI team as well.

Yes has all the ingredients to be a good fast bowler has all the trade what one looks in a fast bowler, tall , fast , bouncy and gets zip.

Bowls 140-150 kmph in test (per the speedometer used in this test series), he is  fast at all the lengths, if remains fit will be good add-on.

Grewal looks another decent prospect.

Instead of waiting for 150 + bowlers like Tyagi, Mayank, Umran etc. to materialize,  we should be grooming these kinda bowlers by giving them ample opportunities in white ball cricket at least.

They are more than serviceable.

Yes till bhurmah is there TM and selectors have to bring these guys into the mix play them along side bhumrah and shami in odis first and then in other formats.

Ind fast bowling bench-strength is so low tm does not even know what their composition would be for bgt,

Right now anyone who shows some promise should be included in the plans else Ind pace bowling would be looking back in the state before shami and bhurah era, LA/RA nothing kind of bowlers

Not talking about height only but a combination of pace, height, deck hitting ability, bounce, zip off the deck, and, most importantly, willingness to bowl with effort.

And height is comparable apart ftom Simarjeet. Harshit 6'3", Arshdeep 6'3", Avesh 6'2", Khaleel 6'2", Himanshu 6'2", Mayank 6'2" or 6'1".

I think selectors have different thoughts, they feel till Bumrah (and Shami) is (are) there, they can pick any LA/RA bowler and most of the time we will end victorious.
Hence, the will and motivation to develop new quicks aren't there. They can pick any stat padder from Domestics and Bumrah will manage everything.
We are infact living in the world of "everything depends on Bumrah".

NCA may be working hard on changing his action, so that he too become a confused canon like Tyagi.
While the quota players like Mukesh, Avesh can continue to blow us in the face.

Money looked quick in the only game I watched of him.

Just needs to be Little less predictable.

Hopefully some IPL franchise picks him up.

i saw all the balls in that video...he is a strong boy but his pace seems at best 134 to 139k . probably these are his fastest balls so definitely not a challenge to harshit, mayank, simarjeet . karthik tyagi( I guess they don't trust him) and Umraan( hope he plays in a few duleep trophy matches else his international career is gone)

This is what scares me. Hope there's no change in action and there's more clarity and transparency on what's ailing Mayank.

He will have to make changes in his action to avoid back injury

I hope some of the pacers like Kuldeep,Simarjeet, Umran ,Mukesh Choudhary who weren't selected in Duleep Trophy matches , participate in the Ranji matches before australian tour and put up good performances. This will push their case for the tour . They also need to convince the selectors that they are fit enough to last the lengthy tour.

The worry is that these bowlers in last two seasons have hardly played a complete season.Playing few matches in IPL isn't enough

Some news about the only thing that excites me in Indian cricket these days - Mayank Yadav

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/news/i-have-been-told-mayank-yadav-on-why-he-wasnt-chosen-for-the-duleep-trophy/amp_articleshow/112983332.cms

Devendra  —

“Like in the morning, he is made to bowl, followed by rehab session and exercise routine. After this, he again does his bowling in the nets. All of this is something which he is doing there on a daily basis, as per what he told me.”

“He bowls eight-ten overs daily, and I did ask him why he wasn’t named in Duleep Trophy squads. To this, Mayank replied, ‘Sir, I have been told not to go into it as I can’t put too much load on my body and concentrate on white-ball cricket for now’,” said Devendra to IANS.

“The good news is, he’s bowling right now and can be considered for future teams, as he’s sending down a lot of deliveries at the NCA. He’s told me, ‘Sir I am becoming fit and pain-free, as well as bowling eight to ten overs daily.’ I am sure that in coming time, he will take the field again,” adds Devendra.

TA Sekhar —

“He is young and has terrific potential, but has not played much of cricket. So, straightaway, you cannot put him in a Test match where if he bowls 20 overs, he will get injured again. That’s why, he has to play some cricket, and the last he played was sometime in April-end.”

“He has terrific potential, but India needs to groom him. Definitely, he is a terrific bowler with the white-ball. But for red-ball, we have to wait and see, because nobody has seen him playing red ball cricket consistently,” he concluded.

And Sekar wanted to remodel his action lol -

“I hope NCA makes sure he is strengthened in the areas where he is getting injured, and remodel his action. Hopefully, he should be coming back and bowling at the same speed, and in the same way bowled in IPL and other matches, because if he is not picked for the Duleep Trophy and if he doesn’t play the Ranji Trophy, how people could pick him for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy?”

So good news is that he’s bowling 8-10 overs daily.
I’ve said this time and time again. If he’s fit to bowl that many overs, he should be playing LOIs. Why is he getting wasted preparing for red ball cricket in training camps for FIVE months?? That can be done simultaneously or with strategic breaks while he kickstarts his international career.

I agree with Sekar with the white ball part but I’ll be very skeptical / cautious about changing (remodeling) his action. Just get him in white ball international cricket first.
