coffee_rules
So, we should not believe video evidence , but have to rely on hearsays as ultimate truth. Case of The pen (or keyboard) is mightier than the lens. If we go prior to heckling and abuse, the constant prodding of who gave you money to come here, this is a communal Hindus event etc., have to be ignored as well? RedFever
The above video clearly shows it was Rajdeep who hit first. A lying ba and then, trying to "spin" it around. Thankfully with social media, such "big" people will now get exposed. Spread the video to everybody. Social media has indeed played a big role in exposing these media persons. Ram
What is more likely? A reasonably reputed Indian journalist with no known history of physical altercations chooses to assault an innocent passerby in a foreign country (or) a mob of passionate supporters choose to be physical with a known personality/celebrity in a vulnerable position? And OMG, we are such deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep sh!t.. Just look the sheer # of loonies on this forum who seem to think its Rajdeep's fault.

Reputed journalist with no history of physical altercations vs a mob of NRI bhaktagiris . Italian logic? Too much listening to RaGa's speeches has it's effects. I could sense some kind of desperate attention seeking in this post :giggle: Rajdeep Sardesai slapped: New videos show a different story altogether A day after videos of journalist Rajdeep Sardesai was allegedly manhandled by the crowd ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address at New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden went viral, new videos have surfaced which reveal the other side of the story. Unlike the first video that showed one of the persons from the crowd heckling Rajdeep, the new videos show that Rajdeep invokes them to do so. Sympathisers have raised their voice in favour of Rajdeep but many other videos of the incident actually raises doubts as to was the whole controversy stage managed. The former CNN-IBN editor in chief, who recently joined India Today Group as consulting editor, not only abused those gathered to cheer Narendra Modi but also indulged in physical altercation. While covering the event, Rajdeep was asking Media’s perception about Narendra Modi. He asked the people, “Has the media been unfair to Modi?” There was no need to ask this question. When the Prime Minister is at historical visit to US and people see it as a beginning of healthy cooperative relationship between the two nations, Rajdeep was digging irrelevant answers. Moreover, Rajdeep was asking leading question to the crowd against Modi. Indeed, it provoked them to act like they did. He should not have been as opinionated as he was at that time. The leading questions by Rajdeep bordered on yellow journalism which is not expected from a journalist like Rajdeep Sardesai. Though the crowd was raising pro-Modi slogan and did not let him put his question but it had more to do with Rajdeep Sardesai’s image. He has been branded as anti-Modi after speaking against him for decades. Rajdeep himself has made his anti-Modi figure and it is well known to others. Though crowd’s behaviour with Rajdeep was improper but he should have behaved in a mature manner. Spending years in the field of journalism, Rajdeep asked questions after which they lost their temper. But this time he was at the receiving end and became a victim of those tactics. His wife Sagarika Ghos is also a known Modi opponent. Rajdeep himself was quite against the current Indian Prime Minister. So did Rajdeep pay the price for the extreme opinions of his and his wife or was it the anger bottled up inside pro-Modi supporters that came out the Madison Square Garden event? But this episode has been the only blot on Narendrea Modi’s US visit. http://www.india.com/news/india/rajdeep-sardesai-slapped-new-videos-show-a-different-story-altogether-161201/

On topic, It looks bad from the hecklers, but RS is not a milk-washed (doodh ka dhula). He was clearly seen instigating. Who started first, is all a matter of perspective. If you believe RS is god-incarnate then we should believe what he says, although it's hard to believe they didn't record it.
