Coffins? are a real burden

Mumbai: The suggestion probably came from Rahul Dravid and the rest, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did well to appoint a travel assistant, Russell Radhakrishnan, for the World Cup. After all, neither of the managers (Mohinder Pandove and Sanjay Jagdale) would?ve been able to coordinate the luggage bit. In fact, had the assistant not been around, absolute chaos would?ve been a feature of Team India?s departure. The problem? Well, a British Airways stipulation that no one piece of checked-in baggage can exceed 32 kgs. Sounds impressive, but the players were in for a shock when each of the fresh ?coffins? provided by the BCCI weighed all of 18 kgs without even a pair of gloves being put! The assistant, therefore, had to meet every player and get his ?coffin? weighed at the team hotel. The specialist batsmen had a real tough time, with most having to pack bats separately. ?Surely, the ?coffins? could?ve been made lighter,? remarked one of the seniors in the presence of The Telegraph. A pertinent point that. Not wanting to leave anything to chance, the assistant even got individual suitcases weighed. ?I want to avoid any hassle both at the airport here and at Heathrow when we change airlines (British Airways to Air Jamaica),? he said. The Indians were to fly out in the early hours of Thursday

Re: Coffins? are a real burden Ah... i know some of the players alone make enough to afford one, most basketball and baseball (not to forget soccer) teams have one... a private jet. McDouglas makes a 32 seater (know someone who owns one) and they cost less than 35 million without the accessories. nice big seats, recline back to 165 degrees, loads of luggage space, and a range of 5000 miles on a full tank, they could make the trip to the indies with at most 2 stop overs. eases up the whole need for all this humiliation that our players often go through at immigration check and luggage weigh ins. not to forget that you can discuss strategy on the plane and even get rest and isolation from irksome fans who think its perfectly alright to obtain autographs at the middle of the night.

Re: Coffins? are a real burden

They can put the coffins to use if they dont get to the semi's :flux:
i wont settle for anything less than runners up. they have the experience, they are in form, they just played there less than two months ago and above all, most of the oppositions are hampered by injuries.
