bunny
If one assumes that Warne is also a coach, there are 5 Aussie coaches (Shipperd, Warne, Buchanan, Lehman and Moody), 2 SA coaches (Jennings and Pollock) and 1 NZ coach (Fleming). Why are we so desperate to have these guys as coaches? Their performances have also been pretty ordinary. It's ok to have specialist fielding coaches like Jonty and bowling coaches like Ian Pont but this obsession with foreign coaches has to end. (very few coaches think out of the box). Hopefully, in years to come we will have more home grown coaches who can really come up with innovative strategies. Link to comment
graphic23
Pollock isn't the coach. He's an advisor. Jonty Rhodes is the fielding coach - rightly so. Amre is the Mumbai coach I believe. Buchanan is a joke but you can't fault Shahrukh's thinking. I don't even know what/who Ray Jennings did/was before IPL - so can't comment. But yeah, the only Indians in the league are the ones with an Indian head coach. I think we are far too obsessed with this foreign coach/players > domestic coach/player thing. Flamy was saying the same thing a few days about Bangalore's performance because their domestic players are the ones who were performing and not the international ones, but the Indian players aren't getting as many chances and they keep switching them around but keep the int'l players afloat. Thats not right. Link to comment
