Coaching session with Tendulkar fetches Rs 12 lakh on eBay

NEW DELHI: The charity auction for an exclusive coaching session with cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on online marketplace eBay has fetched the organisers Rs 12 lakh. The 'October Joy of Giving week' charity auction one day private cricket coaching camp by Sachin Tendulkar received bids from 99 people and 1,024 unique visitors, an eBay India statement said. The auction successfully closed at Rs 12 lakh, after witnessing a bidding war in the final hours of the process. The result was a tie between a Whirlpool employee and two philanthropists who both bid Rs six lakh each. While, Whirlpool used this opportunity to give some of their star performing employees a reward, the philanthropists sought to give underprivileged children the chance of a lifetime, the statement said. The tied winners have agreed to pool in their bids, with Sachin too agreeing to coach both sets of bid winners and the resultant Rs 12 lakh would be donated to 'Apnalaya', a charity supported by Sachin. :hatsoff: The charity auction was an initiative of the eBay India Charity Fund raising programme, dedicated to help NGOs create awareness through cause marketing and auctioning celebrity memorabilia and merchandise for sale to millions of global and Indian users, the statement added.
