They were procrastinating for too long after the recent end of Myanmar's military junta rule, with the likes of US and Europe zoomed off to build ties with Myanmar. Strong ties with Myanmar are important not just for economic and energy security reasons but bringing about peace and stability to India's NE region. ganeshran Posted May 29, 2012 Share Posted May 29, 2012 India had good links with the junta as well, but for some reason we snoozed in the last few years before MMS woke up to the danger of China's string of pearls diplomacy. It was only then that they started talking to vietnam and japan and Indonesia.
