symonds joins gilchrist with the hyderabad team. no doubt they will be the team that will draw the least amount of fans. huge waste of money...
Yeah they don't have any good Indian players right now...They should gor for Ishant. That will help them a lot.

Not sure if Vettori was worth that amount.
Vettori is the best 20-20 bowler. He was probably one of the few players along with Oram who went for their fair value... Now, I think teams will underbid for Smith, Gibbs and Gayle...and whoever grabs them has some seriously good brains working for them..

Chennai actually were lucky that they didn't have a marquee player. Same with Hyderabad.
Exactly...we did not have any Icon player that we were stuck with, so our $5 millions was a free and flexible budget. But teams like Kolkatta, Bangalore etc are stuck with Ganguly and Dravid, and so are limited by price considerations....also as the Icon players get 15% more than the next highest paid, this automatically meant that these teams could NOT bid 1 million plus for any great Int'l ODI like Symonds, Dhoni etc, that will mean 2+ millions just for Ganguly and one star...and either way its a lose-lose situation. Only the icon player gains, if he promotes the price of the next highest player. Both Dravid and Ganguly have boosted their own prices by boosting bids for other Int'l players :D

further proof cricinfo is biased for the australian team: Ricky Ponting and Mathew Hayden didn’t draw too much of money, their tour to Pakistan could have had something to do with it. yeah great logic there, otherwise symonds wouldnt have been sold for over a million now would he? morons. :haha:

But, not having an icon player helps like anything...

Ishant is going to stay home in Delhi......next big up for grabs are Uthappa, Irfan, Zaheer, Sree, Kaif. Chennai looking for Irfan , RP Singh and Lasith Malinga, and may also seriously look towards Rohit Sharma, depending on whether Rohit will stay home or go out.

I think that Delhi is playing safe and want to keep Gambhir and Ishant home..thats why they are waiting to bid high enough for these 2. TA Sekhar is the Delhi Daredevils consultant and he may play an important part in buying 2 out of the 3...Zak, Irfan and Sree

And they will suddenly be back in the reckoning.[/quote'] Gayle is going to Bangalore 100%...and also other West Indians are in the fray...Vijay mallya/Kingfisher bigtime Windies sponsors , you remember...they are all bhai-bhai

Shaun Pollock is a very very good option for Chennai. He scored a ODI 100 for African 11 here and has local following. He is also retired, and still at his peak as an allrounder. We need a good fast bowling allrounder too. GO get Polly Chennai !!!!
