Re: This is the best Indian team to have gone to a world cup !! good post, Zap.... i consider 96 and 87 teams to have the best chance of winnign the WC.... we were brilliant and peaking at the right time in 87.... we lost by a solitary run to AUS and then in return thrashed them second time..... Kapil didnt have any answer to Gooch's sweeps.... thts were, i dont rate his captaincy as high as i could..... he was good in mindset and motivation, but didnt have good backup plans... 96 team had kumbles, sach at their peaks....and was at home.... sadly, the semis had to be on a crumbler..... kumble would have been unplayable if SL had batted second.... heck, De Silva was turning the ball ala warnie... incidentally, both those cups were in india.....
