I just heard the greatest thing ever. 1942 Furtwangler recording of Beethoven's 9th. OH MY FREAKING GOD IS THAT AMAZING. (cochise check yr email!) Mr. Wicket
And Furtwangler. What a maestro. That takes the 9th Symphony to a whole new level.
cochise
Such a sublime piece of music you sent me. I am still reeling from it's effect....the choir at the end....aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.....
Mr. Wicket
I'll be uploading the other three movements of the symphony soon. Truly, truly beautiful. And after hearing this, I recant any comments I made comparing Mozart or Wagner to Beethoven. Both brilliant, Mozart truly a genius - but nothing (not even my favourite 'Jupiter', Mozart's 41st symphony) compares to this. Ethereal?
cochise
The comparison was always beteen Bach and Beethoven. Beethoven pulls your heart apart....Bach rescues you after it has been pulled apart...then he pulls is apart again.....gently... Mozart did not mature enough to get into this league, despite his majestic music.
