Mr. Wicket Posted April 5, 2009 Author Share Posted April 5, 2009 For whatever reason, I haven't ever felt Bach was on the same plane as Beethoven. Mozart, yes. While not mature, there's a charm and beauty to his music that could rival Beethoven (or so I felt before hearing the Furtwangler performance), and his 41st Symphony - particularly that dramatic finale - is one of the great works. But either way, after hearing the Furtwangler in full (the entire 68 minute epic, which I'll be uploading in installments - movement #1 is now going up) I'm now having a hard time putting Beethoven on a parallel with anyone.
