Well the other thing is. If Ancelotti wanted him' date=' its not like he would have decided a day or two ago, [b']there was an opportunity to do a swap & cash deal with Carvalho.
It is probably that. Why would Chelsea just let carvalho walk? They probably agreed on negotiating later on.

Expect spurs to make their move
Harry Redknapp has moved to curb speculation linking Tottenham with attacking reinforcements. The Spurs boss insists things have gone quiet for the club on the transfer front, with no further arrivals expected. He says there are no talks in progress and claims he would have no qualms with working with what he has got once the summer window slams shut on Tuesday at 6pm. "There is nothing close to being done, not that I know of," said Redknapp. "We are nowhere near doing a deal for anybody. I'm not that bothered to be honest.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar joins Schalke from AC Milan. Out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Aliaksandr Hleb is on the verge of making a return to the Premier League by signing for Birmingham City, who have made a £5million bid for the former Arsenal player. Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has reportedly made a sensational bid to land Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor. Eidur Gudjohnsen is ready to sign for Mark Hughes' Fulham on a year-long loan from Monaco today - after turning down Stoke City. David Trezeguet has completed his move to La Liga newcomers Hercules from Juventus. Arsenal have launched a last-ditch £4million offer to sign Mark Schwarzer from Fulham. Shay Given has turned down a move to rejoin former coach Mark Hughes at Fulham and has announced his decision to stay at Eastlands and fight for his place. Brazilian striker Robinho is trying to manufacture a move to AC Milan to link up with compatriot Alexandre Pato. Also heading to Italy from Eastlands is Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz who is close to joining Lazio on loan. West Ham United's Carlton Cole has again been linked to the Reds but a last minute deal for Redknapp's pursuit to sign Luis Fabiano has all but ended after the Brazilian striker signed a new deal with Sevilla. Sunderland are also desperate to sign a goalscorer and news is reaching us that Ghana's Asamoah Gyan is close to joining for £15 million from Rennes. Stoke City are also looking to sign Monaco forward Eidur Gudjohnsen on a season-long loan. Asamoah Gyan apparently is in Sunderland today for his medical and sky are reporting the deal will be done after his medical for around £ 12m. Meanwhile Tottenham have made an enquirey for Everton's Steven Pienaar and Adebayor is also staying back at the Eastlands after talks with boss Roberto Mancini.
