thevortex
Very nice points made marris_mania. Just to add to those, it is generally difficult for people with top-hand-dominant grips to drive the ball all along the ground. Their grip is meant for leveraging balls not stroking them along the ground. Also the bottom handed grip actually has a lot of nuances. There are people who hold the bat low down but do not hold the bottom hand tightly. These are the batsmen who can use their wrists very well and play down a rising ball with loose bottom hand. These are the very best kind of subcontinental batsmen for the most part. However, tail enders tend to have a bottom handed grip but where they grip the bat real tight. Yes, they can clear grounds occasionally but they dont generally find it easy to handle rising deliveries or control their edges by softening their bottom hand. Apart from all this, one must understand that grip is just one aspect of batsmanship. One of the other major factors contributing to how effectively the grip is used by the batsman is the backlift. You could have a high arc backlift like Sehwag or close to none like Dhoni. This again is individual and at most times natural. But that is probably off topic for this thread. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
That is the worst grip :hysterical: Thats my point:--D Link to comment
SachDan
That is the worst grip :hysterical: Absolutely! Always wondered how this guy can play big shots with such a grip..Yeah off course if he was a huge built, grip wouldn't have mattered much while trying for mighty hits...but with his size it was a big :fail: Link to comment
