living
I will go with the same XI - changing team dynamics every game won't do us any good. There's a tour game after the 2nd test (I think), we can try out Sehwag & KKD and the other bowlers then. After which we should pick the line up for test 3 & 4. Link to comment
Donny
here is a question : Should India play Bhajji just because he is having success against Ponting ? Surely, the answer is blindingly obvious. Ponting scored 4 & 3 in Melbourne and Australia won by 337 runs. Bhajji took 3 wickets @ 54 runs apiece. Even if he took Ponting's wicket twice, who - in their right mind - thinks Australia relies on anyone of its 7 batsmen ? Link to comment
novpj
Lets revisit Hari's team. Here's my analysis: 1. Sehwag: Lets hope that he scores fast and strikes form. Lets ignore the fact that he has not done anything in past 1.5 yrs to convince us thet he can do so. Lets ignore that he hasnt played competitive cricket on this tour. Lets just gamble against the most prepared team. 2. KKD and Pathan: Lets ignore that KKDs keeping was miserable against Pakistan but then again may be the logic is that Aussies are such great player - they dont nick the ball - we probably need fielders in front of the wicket not behind. oh and lets throw in pathan to make sure that the dibbly dobblers wont ever be nicked. Not to mentioned KKDs form - he was not convincing against Shoaib but against Lee he will strike form. 3. Drop RPS and play Ishant: Very logical!! Sicne we are gambling lets just drop one of our best fast bowlers and replace him with a youngster thrown against the mightly batting lineup. Ofcourse we need to drop RPS beause we cant play 3 left armers. But remember we cant drop Pathan otherwise our batting lineup will weaken (lets conveniently forget that the lineup looks weak because we dropped a reliable opner - jaffer, a talented batsmen - Yuvi and plan to stick with 3 out of form batsmen - Sehwag, KKD and Dravid) so lets weaken our bowling. Hari Sampath - you have done it. Coming in if you would have asked anyone to name 3 batsmen on this tour that were out of touch most would have said - Dravid, Sehwag and KKD. All 3 found a place in your team that can win. If you would have asked anyone to name our weakest fast bowlers they would have said Pankaj, Ishant, Irfan. 2 out of 3 found their way in your team that will win. I have only one question. This team is guaranteed to win against whom - Zimbabwe? Link to comment
