Re: 177 and Counting... He has played plenty of matches, and it's 176, not 177. Tendulkar and Inzamam have 150 as well. Another interesting stat; the top 10 six hitters in the history of ODI cricket in terms of a sixes per inning ratio; 1. M Dhoni - 1.06 2. S Afridi - 0.99 3. J Kemp - 0.88 4. A Flintoff - 0.83 5. C Cairns - 0.79 6. A Ahmed - 0.79 7. R Powell - 0.75 8. V Richards - 0.75 9. S Ganguly - 0.63 10. L Cairns - 0.63 *Note; other renowned big hitters who didn't make the list; - A Symonds - 0.62 - S Jayasuriya - 0.60 - L Klusener - 0.55 - A Gilchrist - 0.50 - A Razzak - 0.52 - A Jadeja - 0.47

Re: 177 and Counting...

So he his in top 10 in both total and %...of sixes... and also in averages and total runs and number of centuries and man of the match awards too... One can easily say he is among the top 10 ODI players of all time
Even without the sixes record, he would easily be in the top 5 ODI batsmen in the history of the game. His 50 to 100 conversion rate is 2nd to only Tendulkar's and no other batsman can match his sheer volume of runs. BTW - that was Aftab Ahmad, the Banglastani slogger.

Re: 177 and Counting...

Is Cairns the highest six scorers in test cricket BTW? I'm sure Dhoni will surpass everyone. Is Afridi at the top of the list in ODIs for scoring sixes?
Cairns is 3rd - Gilchrist has the most sixes in Test cricket; almost 100. Dhoni has hit 62 sixes over the course of just 66 matches !! He will own the record for maximum # of sixes by the time he finishes his career.
