Among the front runners, all teams except Chennai have a better home record than away record perhaps indicating that even in a short format like T20 and in conditions which most cricketers are reasonably familiar with having played in India all these years, home advantage is a factor, mainly due to the crowd factor I guess. In addition to the crowd factor, certain teams have a bowling attack more suited to their home conditions, like Mohali and Mumbai. If Mumbai makes it to the knockout phase they will be a very strong contender because of the semi finals and finals being hosted in Mumbai.

Not only the crowd but even the pitch. Most probably the home team tries to get a pitch which is suitable to its own attack. The prime example is Jaipur where against Chennai they got a pitch which had bounce and carry to shatter Dhoni's hopes and against Delhi they had a pitch where the ball was not coming on to the bat properly and they could dismiss Sehwag quickly. The only mystry is the Bangalore pitch. If their own players are not comfortable playing on such a surface why on earth did they not tinker it to suit them?
