Bumper
First things first. Get Bermuda out for less than 125. If we manage so, then we beat Lanka and we are in to super-8s. Heres why: In Lanka vs BD here are the possibilities: a) Match gets rained out: Ind beats SL & gets in Lanka beats BD by a close margin: Ind beating SL will get us past SL in terms of RR c) Lanka beats BD by a BIG margin: BD will bow out, not being able to meet the NRR d) BD beats Lanka whatever margin: We beat Lanka we are home. I think SL will beat BD by about 40-50 runs if they bat first or with 5 overs to spare if they bowl first, making © the likely outcome. Link to comment
yoda
Re: Equation is simple now -- we control our destiny The least likely event in all the above is us beating SL, today's performance notwithstanding. Link to comment
Don
Re: Equation is simple now -- we control our destiny yep the 400 has changed equations but first things first need to beat srilanka soemhow on friday. Winning the toss and bowling would be a start, the toss is very very important. Link to comment
Bumper
Re: Equation is simple now -- we control our destiny If we dont beat SL, i wont be disappointed by our exit. What i will be disappointed with is, if we beat SL & go out because of a stoopid goof up in one game. Link to comment

Bumper
Re: Equation is simple now -- we control our destiny Here is some fantasy math to show how hard it is for BD to raise its NRR in its last game. (Its very difficult to raise NRR as more & more games accumulate). Suppose we bowl Bermuda for 125, we will have a NRR of 2.81 (100 a.o would give us 3.06) Here is my prediction on Lanka vs BD: Lanka: 280, BD: 230 (BD's NRR: -0.43) And, Ind vs SL: Ind: 290, SL: 270 (Ind - NRR: 2.06) Assume BD scores 450 & bundles Bermuda for less than 100 BD: 450, Ber: 100 (NRR: 2.04), still Ind will qualify OTOH, if Bermuda bats first & scores 100, even if BD chases it down in 5 overs, BD's NRR is: 1.20. Thats how difficult it is for Bangla. There is hope guys after this performance. Link to comment
Don
Re: Equation is simple now -- we control our destiny ah but we need need to get the bloody lankans out first. One more thing could be in our favour that Lankans qualify since we carry points through. Link to comment

So, India will be assured of a spot in the Super 8's. Link to comment

The Outsider
Re: Equation is simple now -- we control our destiny We control our destiny except for the rain part in our our game against SL Hard to see rain affecting any match to the extent of a no result given there is reserve day and only 20 overs a side is required for a result.
