Any Glam Rock fans out there? Out of all the genres of rock I love Glam Rock the most. Sexy guitars, lovely vocals, and best of all they have songs that you can sit together in a dope/daru session with ur friends and play on an acoustic guitar. First there is Pink Floyd, then there is Doors, then there is Glam Rock - Van Halen, Whitesnake, White Lion, Saigon Kick, Damn Yanks, Extreme, Europe, Scorpions...damn who wouldn't love them?

Ive heard a little bit of Ratt, Poison, Motley Crue of course (hair metal as opposed to glam :hmmm:)...and err..the Darkness :D Kiss have a few good songs, again not a huge fan or anything Im not sure Van Halen would like being called Glam Rock . Surely more of a purer Hard Rock type band. Eddie VH was too good a musician. And the Scorpions or Whitesnake are more Harder rock Id have thunk than glam And of course. 9GFI6Rf-IkI

Ratt, Savage, Poison, Faster Pussycat, VH, Scorpions, Whitesnake...these fellows were the original glam rockers. I think the concept of glam rock started off because their sound was very different and it seemed to rely a lot on ballads, love songs, and melodic guitar work. Historically their sound was noticeably different from that of the classic fellows like Led Zep, Who, etc during the time. But at the same time they were not like the heavier folks like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. More importantly these fellows' shows were pretty visual spectacles in terms of their costumes and the ability to attract lot of female fans. Hence the "Glam" term stuck. Did you know Iron Maiden and Def Lep started off playing in the same clubs in the late 70s and Def Lep was pretty heavy then...one of them turned legendary heavy metal while the other was advised to go with the mellowed down stuff and "handsome, decent boy looks" and ended up in the glam rock category. Iron Maiden actually held the record of selling an album every 25 seconds behind Michael Jackson who had the record of every 17 seconds. Van Halen's "Eruption" was basically a glam gimmick advised by the bands manager. These bands were marketed to attract the female crowd with their melodies and lovey dovey lyrics...lol. But Nirvana and Pearl Jam just killed Glam forever Edit - Glam Rock is not mutually exclusive with great musicians. In fact some of the best guitarists you see are glam fellows. Check out Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai who played for Whitesnake, Matt Kramer and Jason Bieler of Saigon Kick, Rudolf Schenker of Scorpions, Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, the Damn Yanks chap, the White Lion chap...all amazing lead guitarists. As for as vocals are concerned you have some really good ones in Axl, Bon Jovi, the guy from Extreme who sang for VH later - Gary Sharone(?), and the Scorpions chap, Joey Tempest from Europe, the guy from Ugly Kid Joe, Matt Kramer from Saigon Kick, etc. O and how can I forget the guys from Tesla, and Motley Crue
