For those interested. As was the case with many of the premier fast bowler of yore in England(Larwood being a prominent one) he was the son of a working class, a miner to be specific. His Dad was a fierce Yorkshire fan and that was how Fred Trueman got dragged into cricket. Fiery Fred as he was referred to was, in his own words, afraid of only one person in the entire world and that was his Dad. It was hid Dad who had told him never to bounce a fast bowler and he never did, even though he was bounced himself(notably by his competitor Frank Tyson, a man who Trueman admits was faster but not better, who hit him right on the box leaving Fred wonder if his family jewels were intact). There is this memorable anecdote about how Fred Trueman gave his first test cap to his Dad. That remained his Dad's proudest possession and was placed inside his coffin when he passed away. The day Trueman retired, he went home, was met by his Dad who gave him a hug and told him how his love for game was over and he would never watch it again. And he never did! Great characters, both Dad and son. :wtg: xxx

Yes. On the contrary, he is a good fielder at Gully. Kumble is currently the highest wicket-taker for India in one-day internationals and Test matches, having taken over 500 Test wickets and 300 ODI wickets
