guju24
Its difference of opinion with the BCCI notwithstanding, Indian Cricket League on Wednesday supported the Board's stiff stand on the ban on Harbhajan Singh for his alleged racial comments against Australian players. "We support the BCCI's stand on the issue of unjustified action against Harbhajan Singh," said Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Director of ICL and former Indian team player. No doubt that the stand taken by the BCCI was part of pressured tactics, but still all Indian cricketers should support Bhajji in this crucial juncture, Sandhu said adding that only senior officials of the ICL could speak more on the issue. "As a cricketer, I feel that cricket should not suffer due to such controversies and the time is ripe that ICC should decide what statement can be connected to racism, because for Indian players calling donkey or monkey does not amount to racism but for Australian players it may be," he said. "As a cricketer, I suggest that captains of both the teams including Anil Kumble and Ricky Pointing should sit together and resolve the issue once for all," he said. Sandhu also termed the media reports on the issue as "over reaction". TOI Link to comment
