@CC...you dont know the first thing about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak sangh or what it takes to be a swayamsevak' date=' so dont talk stupidly.[b'] NO swayamsevak will EVER kill another human being , as swayamsevaks are not trained to do that, just the opposite. Swayamsevaks live a life of strong faith, and sacrifice for a cause larger than themselves and their vision of Hindu means "all of humanity"...not in a religious sense, and they rightly believe that this country called Bharatha had always been the seat of the universal concept of Hinduism , which is inclusive of all religions . So, there is absolutely NO religious bigotry in the Sangh
And pray tell me who killed Gandhi ...

This reference to Hindu means EVERONE born in this land
Why ? We non-hindus do not like being referenced as hindus ! We are children of Bharat, not childen of hindu nation. India is not a hindu nation- it is not so constitutionally and that is precisely the kind of preposterous, arrogant talk trying to blend hinduism with nationalism that gets the goat of a lot of people- including moderate hindus.

Nathuram Godse and others were not even Jan sangh DR.....there was just Hindu Mahasabha at that point and then too, these fellows were hardly RSS members , the sangh has denied totally any and all connections with the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. In fact is anyone aware here that one of the founding members of the roots of BJP/jan Sanhgh , Shri Shyamaprasad Mukherjee was the Industries minister in Jawaharlal Nehru's cabinet, after dissolving the Hindu Mahasabha ??? would that EVER have happened had Nehru thought the RSS or any member been involved in the Mahatma assassination ?

Yes, Nehru was all praise for RSS and rightly so..

None of the following were RSS members: Nathuram Godse, Narayan Apte, Gopal Godse, Madanlal Pawa, Digamber Badge, Dattarya Parchure, Gangadhar Dandavate, Sankar Kistaiya, Vishnu Karkare, Gangadhar Jadhav and Suryadev Sharma. Godse had been briefly associated with RSS and had quit the RSS 16 years before the assassination

Godse was a RSS member till 1934 .' date= you guys are kidding me if you think otherwise . He himself said that he belonged to RSS during court hearing . Why will he lie ?
Oke KR even if buy that, wud not give u RSS credit for disowning him despite him not being the memeber when he did what he did.. So the official line remains that he is not one of them..

^ I have deliberately left out Veer savarkar's name here, as there are other issues involved , but the RSS was exonerated by Home Minister Sardar Patel himself, who although claiming that RSS was happy at the event, had categorically stated that the assassination had nothing to do with the RSS, and had attributed it to a fanatical section of Hindu mahasabha. Veer savarkar's role has been historically debated for decades and no conclusion is available.

Why will he lie ?[/quote'] No, Nathuram Godse would never lie, he was a person of great character and virtue and a great patriot, who misguidedly assassinated the mahatma. He had his strong views and although it was an assassination of perhaps the greatest Indian who ever lived, Godse had regretted that he had to do it, and had said he did it as an absolute last resort. Even then, before assassinating the Mahatma, he prostrated at his feet and had later said " after all here was a person who had done so much for my motherland which I love so much and he deserves my pranams for that"....where else can such a character be developed except in the RSS where he was briefly ? And the same Godse had vehemently denied that the RSS had anything to do with his action, and yes he was speaking the truth.

Though officially Sangh Parivar dissociates from Gandhi's murder by Godse, in private many a members not only uphold the dastardly act, but also have even succeeded in undermining the importance of Mahatma and 'sympathize' with Godse. This complex trick can be achieved only by a multi-headed organization, capable of talking with different tongues at the same time. It is unfortunate that such a recent history, as this one, can be doctored to suit the interests of communal politics.

I wish to make a fact known here. I know a real lot of the politics of Indian freedom movement of the last 40 years before independence, as my great grand uncle was the President of Indian national congress , his name was Vijayaraghavachari, and it was under his presidency in the Nagpur session of 1921 that Mahatma Gandhi made his first entry into the Congress. We have several letters/documents etc in our family that show great insights into the freedom movement before Gandhi and after Gandhi's entry. I want to be very careful when I say that I totally completely and absolutely condemn the assassination of the Mahatma, in case anyone here gets any idea that I even fleetingly support it. I was just putting out Godse's view of Gandhi and saying it is somewhat understandable in the context of 1930s/1940s

Godse's view was similar to that of Brutus who said " Not that I love Caesar less, but I love Rome more"...both were of the view that an individual had to be killed , unfortunately
