He'd need to finish test cricket at an average close to 65 to factor in the discussion with Tendulkar, Lara, Viv, Gavaskar, Sobers, etc. spot on ... it is really surprising that a lot of posters do not take into account the general quality difference in bowling between Sachin-Kohli eras. How many <25 avg:ing bowlers Kohli has faced as of now????? Philader,Steyn,Rabada come into mind. Even here too , Steyn only can claim to have enough longevity combined with balanced record.Other than that????? Link to comment
rtmohanlal
Shaw needs to play one dayers too ASAP. His list A performances as of now too is top notch. He should be given chances in less prioritized one dayers by resting Rohit or Dhawan. This can be done even at the cost of Rayudu,Kartik etc etc. By the time he turns 24 , he would have played a few matches, gained experience and would be ready to take over from Dhwan who would be 38 by that time. This would enable him in growing in confidence as a multi dimensional all conditional player which would in turn benefit Indian team as a whole . As it is already evident, Indian team is experiencing the ill effects of carrying too many one dimensional batsmen like Pujara,Kartik,Rayudu,Manish Pandey etc etc. There should be at least 4 batsmen who can play both tests and one dayers with same brilliance. In the by gone era, there were six of them in Sachin,Sourav,Dravid, Sehwag,Gambhir & Dhoni!!!!!!!!. Now we have only one in Kohli for the past 5 years or so.Hope Pant carries the legacy of Dhoni. Not at all a surprise that we still badly sucks in SENA in tests. Edited October 19, 2018 by rtmohanlal UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
Tendulkar1996
Australia will test shaw with the rising ball outside offstump which he tends to hit in teh air and the bouncer which sometimes he hooks recklessly or gets stuck in bad position due to high backlift. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
