bharat297
If player A calls for a runner , and player A is on strike and there is a stumping appeal, who needs to be in the crease for it to be given not out? If player A is in the crease but the runner is not, then is player A out? Conversely, if the runner is in the crease but player A isnt then is player A safe? This is an area of the rules I am not entirely sure about. Link to comment
DomainK
Its the player himself who has to be in the crease and it does not matter where the runner is. The only form of dismissal that concerns the runner is 'run out'. Link to comment
bharat297
So then technically could the runner be half-way down the pitch? ... I mean, he cant be mankaded like the non-striker can, so why cant the runner stand half way down the pitch or something? Link to comment
Whisper
both have to be behind the crease.. if the keeper gets the ball and the runner is halfway down the pitch and the keeper removes the bails its basically a run-out anyway regardless of whether or not the batter is in the crease.
