Why are we picking Dadaji Pathan?

Anyone else think its ironic that the meat eating medium pacers (Munaf and Irfan) who started off fast are now as slow as Kumble whilst the Veggies are bowling as fast as Lee and Akhtar?
I am not sure of IKP, but Munaf is a pure vegetarian. You may confirm from other sources. But, veg/non-veg hardly matters. For example, our bowling coach VP and recent U19 match refree Srinath were pure veggies. They have really proven their mettle, MP has to be banged badly either by Greg Chapell(funny) or advised by his local coach to go back to his old way of bowling and learn to bowl to his field.
To actually address the OP, Irfan is a VITAL one day player. Sure he had an off day yesterday but generally, he brings in excellent control, is s committed fielder and a handy batsman. As a senior member of the side, he will be kicking himself for having performed so poorly in a final I am sure.
Sure, as if he will not kick himself then once for all he will be dropped from the team. On the other side, we understand that all the days are not lucky days. Somedays like today may be off-days for the cricketers, so IKP may be excused for this. Yuvi Baba, Robin Anna, Gambhi Chintan...come on...we need you!

we pick pathan because hes an all arounder someone who can perform with the bat if not with the bowl, and not to forget his valuable presence in the out field. We pick pathan because hes a fighter besides Sreesanth provides nothing hes either expensive and takes no wicket or he takes wicket giving away a lot of runs.if anything Sreesanth should battle it out with Kumar, Praveen Kumar has been great so far and he can also be effective down the order.Never drop Pathan, its just too much of a crime to do so

Shocking decision to leave out Sreesanth and Sehwag. This ODI team looks very mediocre without them. As Bumps said, Kumar is the luckiest trundler in the world. He'll be dead meat in no time at all.
Sehwag=An additional batsman(Its a plus, if he fires)+part time bowler with SRT to fill up in place of a regular spinner. Sreesanth=Variation in line and length(If he bowls to his field)+action in the ground full of dramatics for the entertainment. Praveen Kumar has to have lots of swing, reverse swing(if possible with his present bowling speed), also variety of length as a successful medium pacer has to have like Ian Botham, etc.
